    Maxwell-Gunter AFB FamCamp

    Lovely

Great campground for military, large level sites. Long term sites have covered patios. Full hookup, no wi fi. Laundry rooms, 1.00 to wash and dry, with efficient cycles. Lake with playground and large dog park. Exceptionally friendly staff. Quiet and we'll maintained. Shower rooms available, although have not used. You do hear planes going over but not too loud as some AFB's we've stayed at. Relvery plays at 6:30 am, Star Spangled Banner at 5:00pm, and TAPS at 9pm, not offensively loud, kinda like it. Would highly recommend and will be staying awhile great monthly rates. Great Verizon signal.

    Kountry Air RV Park

    Clean quiet campground

We have stayed here many times when were on the road heading  out for the summer.  We had full hook up, a picnic table & there is a small clean restroom near the pool if needed along with a laundry room & place to sit inside if it's hot out.  They have DVD's and some books we trade them where were there. We only stay a night & stay hooked up to the truck. The owners Gigi & her husband work hard to keep the gardens beautiful, the campground maintained & the pool is so clean & refreshing.  You can get propane here.

We've stayed 3 different time & had a nice site towards the back with a garden on the side.

It's off the beaten path a little but well worth it.

    The Backyard RV Resort

    Great Campground

Reservations made yhe night before online. The campground has not changed nanes yet but will be known as Unhitched Montgomery. Some short time stays and a bunch of long term stays. Clean bathhouse and great outdoor gathering areas, really like "the hangout" area. Pet friendly. Laundry available. It seems secluded but there are a lot of conveniences nearby. People at front desk were very friendly. Easy pull through sites. Highly recommend.

    Chewacla State Park Campground

Great little state park just outside Auburn.

Traveling back east, we found Chewacla State Park campground on The Dyrt. Due to heavy rain, did not make it as far as we wanted, so this was a last minute same day reservation, which we made online.

Total fees were $42 for a full hookup site. We got site 34 which is an 80' long back in spot. Super easy to back in, even in super dark conditions with heavy cloud cover and no street lights of any kind.

Water pressure is awesome and they have both 30 & 50 amp electric. Sewage is nicely placed in a low spot so you won't need a hose lifter (a rarity in our experience).

Out spot is across from the bath house, but also the dump station. No smells, but I would imagine mornings might be a bit congested and noisy as other campers are leaving and dumping.

Also directly across from the site is a large picnic shelter. Sites are decently spaced apart, though site 35 is a pull through, and though unoccupied on our nights stay, might make it feel a bit more cramped.

Our site had a fire ring and picnic table. And even though it's close to the highway, no noticeable traffic noise. Only thing we could hear were some kids playing across the campground.

It's about 5 minutes off the interstate and very easy access (just watch out for the staggered speed bumps at the campground entrance...it's narrow, too.

No wi-fi in the park. But Verizon 4G was 3 out of 5 bars on my Samsung S20+.

Overall a great spot and easy to reserver online for those looking for a calm and peaceful overnight. Looking forward to getting a run on the trails in the morning!

    Camp Sherrye on the Coosa

    Great place near family

This is our second stay- had premium site before- they place your travel trailer so the trailers are facing the same way because you can’t back into the premium. . We had a pull through this week- no shade, but C2 had a nice view. We will be back for the month of November.

    Montgomery South RV Park

    Quick Overnight off highway

Staff is wonderful, campstore is well stocked. Sites are all full hookup pull through. Restrooms smelled like Men's showerhouses and laundry facility was dirty. The ice machine was in with the laundry room and seemed unsanitary/locked. There were at least 16 permanent travel trailers that were run down and made us feel unsafe/uncomfortable at times.

If you travel through this area be sure to stop by Priester's Pecans. They have an amazing store and factory!

    Chewacla State Park Campground

Could Not Have Asked for Better

I am rather new to tent camping so I really appreciated the helpful folks running the camping area.  Each spot had electricity, water, great internet, picnic table and places to build a fire.  Each site is shielded from the next by trees.  Bathrooms and showers are used but clean.  Clear maps available for hiking or biking.  Nice lake with swimming and boating.  Pet friendly.  Could not have asked for more or better.

    Maxwell-Gunter AFB FamCamp

    Great Military RV Park

Very Quiet location with level pull thru sites. Showers are clean and laundry on site. Many long term campers on site. Camping is a little pricy at 28 dollars a night but very safe.

Guide to Kent

RV parks near Kent, Alabama provide convenient overnight accommodations and extended-stay options for travelers. The region features mostly level terrain with elevations averaging 200-300 feet above sea level and a humid subtropical climate with mild winters. Most campgrounds in this area operate year-round due to Alabama's moderate temperatures, though summer humidity can reach uncomfortable levels from June through August.

What to do

Explore local wildlife attractions: The Montgomery South RV Park is located near educational nature experiences. "The park is right up the street from Alabama Safari Park, and there are a few restaurants up the road near the interstate," notes one camper who enjoyed the proximity to animal encounters.

Visit historic sites: When staying at RV parks near Kent, Alabama, plan day trips to nearby historical attractions. "We stayed here for 8 weeks while travel nursing at a local hospital... It's a quick hop on the interstate to get to Montgomery or Prattville," shares one guest who appreciated the central location for exploring regional history.

Fishing opportunities: Several campgrounds offer on-site fishing. At Lakeside RV Park, "you could drive your golf cart all around the campsite to use your ATV UTV enjoy the pond as a catch and release," according to a recent visitor who enjoyed the recreational options.

What campers like

Family-owned hospitality: The personal touch at smaller RV parks is frequently mentioned in reviews. At Kountry Air RV Park, "GiGi & Don have owned this park for 12yrs. Most helpful!! I had what I thought a very low water pressure @ my site. Don took the time to unhook my water & show me my filter had collected so much sediment from previous spot."

Quiet rural settings: Many campers appreciate the peaceful surroundings at parks like Bar-W RV Park. "I enjoyed a couple days there while visiting Tuskegee Historic site, and enjoyed seeing a working farm, among the hills of Alabama... Quiet and enjoyable. A herd of Angus with a Longhorn thrown in, a pond with ducks, geese flying over, cool!"

Clean facilities: Reviewers consistently mention well-maintained amenities. "The laundry and showers are cleaned every day and work as expected. Washer is $2 and dryer is $2," notes a frequent visitor to Capital City RV Park, highlighting the reliable amenities.

What you should know

Distance from interstate: Some RV parks require significant driving from major highways. One reviewer at The Backyard RV Resort noted, "When we made reservations, we were told to only take exit 179 off I-65 and follow the GPS directions, as any other way will take you on narrow roads, including gravel roads. We drove the 14 miles from the exit to the CG with no issues."

Seasonal considerations: The area experiences heavy rain in winter and spring. "It was pouring buckets when we arrived and he insisted on taking us literally across the street from the camp store to ensure we had everything we needed," mentioned one Montgomery South RV Park visitor, highlighting staff assistance during inclement weather.

Long-term residents: Many parks have a mix of overnight guests and permanent residents. "There were at least 16 permanent travel trailers that were run down and made us feel unsafe/uncomfortable at times," observed one reviewer, while another noted, "Lots of long term renters present in the campground, but I never had a bad interaction with any of them."

Tips for camping with families

Pet accommodations: Most RV parks in the area welcome pets but have varying facilities. "Large fenced in area for dogs, but being dogless in my travels....I never used it," mentions one Capital City RV Park visitor, while another camper at Montgomery South RV Park noted, "Large fenced dog park at north end and plenty of green space for walking your puppy. Just be aware there are rabbits all over the place."

Playground access: Some campgrounds offer dedicated children's areas. At Auburn RV Park at Leisure Time Campground, "There was a shower room, restrooms, laundry facilities available and all were clean. A huge beautiful pool and a children's pool, all were kept up nicely."

Educational side trips: Plan educational outings during your stay. "Tip for travelers with kids: If you are trying to burn time with kids, the safari park is nearby and was a great way to burn some energy," recommends a Montgomery South RV Park guest who found family-friendly activities in the area.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling requirements: Most campgrounds feature relatively level sites requiring minimal adjustment. "The sites are gravel and are mostly level, I believe the most I had to adjust was 1.5 inches," notes one RVer about Capital City RV Park, while another mentions, "All lots appeared to be pull thru and level. Due to rain, we kept our Airstream connected to the truck and just connected water and electricity. Leveling was minimal (fore/aft) with no need for blocks or boards."

Water pressure considerations: Be prepared for variable water pressure. At Kountry Air, a camper noted, "After, all good!! This place is neat/clean, organized ck-in process. Rates are awesome!! Def be back!!" after receiving help with a water pressure issue caused by a clogged filter.

First-come availability: Some locations don't accept reservations. At Peach Park RV Park, "10 available (first come, first served), no reservations. We came in late & paid in the AM at Peach Park Express $35 for overnight stay," explains a traveler who appreciated the flexibility for spontaneous stops.
