Several RV parks around Cullman, Alabama provide full hookup services for motorhomes and travel trailers. Thousand Trails Hidden Cove in Arley accommodates large rigs with spacious pull-through sites on gravel pads, offering full hookup options including 50-amp service in their newer C section. Quail Creek RV Resort features long pull-through sites with full hookups, though spaces between neighboring RVs remain relatively close. Bama Campground & RV Park maintains 28 sites with water, electric, and sewer connections for motorhomes. Northgate RV Travel Park in Athens provides both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service with minimal amenities but convenient access from Interstate 65. "This is a nice off the interstate travel park. Full hook ups. Pull through sights plenty long enough for our 40+ ft. motorhome with tow vehicle."

Navigation to certain parks requires careful driving, particularly when approaching Hidden Cove where steep roads and sharp turns may challenge larger motorhomes. Cell service varies considerably across campgrounds, with Verizon coverage reported as strong at Quail Creek but spotty at Hidden Cove where AT&T provides better connectivity. Most RV parks in the region remain open year-round, though amenities like swimming pools typically close during winter months. Many campgrounds provide sanitary dump stations, with Hidden Cove and Redstone Arsenal offering this service on-site. One camper noted, "There is a separate road to the resort area as the locals drive rapidly to and from the golf course," highlighting the importance of being aware of traffic patterns when navigating with larger RVs. Pet policies generally permit dogs at most locations except Palomino RV Resort which prohibits pets.

      Bama Campground & RV Park

      BEST Place Ever !!

My friend and I stayed Friday and Saturday night in the two-story cabin. The location was easy to find, and it was extremely affordable. Such a great value, when most places are out of reach even for two days! The cabin was so clean and had everything you need. There's a fire pit with kindling and firewood that's nice and dry and burns excellently. We went during the Fall Festival, and they had hot air balloon rides, a pumpkin patch, cornhole boards, bouncy houses for the kids, horse rides, wonderful food, and a night hike to the cave(they even provided glow sticks!). It was an event-filled weekend with the best atmosphere! I can't say enough about Steve and his staff. They're all so kind, it's like you've known them forever. Anything you need, just give them a call and they're Johnny-on-the-spot. We will definitely come and stay again. I'd recommend this peaceful, beautiful place with a 5-star rating and more! Love this place!!

      Palomino RV Resort

      Great layover

We stayed at Palomino RV Park as a layover on our trip from Indiana to Destin, and it was an excellent stop. The campground is right off the highway, and from the exit to pulling into our site was literally just a few minutes, which made it incredibly convenient for an overnight stay.

The staff was very friendly, the campground was in pristine condition, and the amenities were great. Our kids especially enjoyed the paddleboards and kayaks on the pond, and our dog loved having a fenced-in dog park to run around in.

Our site had full hookups, a nice concrete pad, and a freestanding fireplace, which made for a very comfortable stay.

If I had one complaint, it would be the $8 bundle of firewood. Compared with other campgrounds we’ve stayed at, the bundle was extremely small. That’s a very minor issue, though, and certainly wouldn’t keep us from coming back.

We would 100% book here again when traveling through Alabama. It’s a convenient, clean, family-friendly campground and an excellent overnight stop.

Decatur / Wheeler Lake KOA Holiday

      Awesome

We spent a night here on our way to Florida. We originally booked a year ago when it was a KOA, but before we arrived, they switched to Unhitched. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The inside sites had full hookups, but we opted for a waterside site with a view, which was a great choice. They even had live music, and the band was fantastic. I bought a couple of bundles of firewood, and they delivered them to us. We’ll definitely stay here again for a couple of nights next time, as it was worth it. We didn’t use the bathhouse.

      Houston Recreation Area

      Beautiful but partially abandoned

I bet this park was beautiful in its day. Unfortunately the campground area is now gated off. There is no longer an attendant at the gate either. I was working in the area and ate lunch and the swimming beach and used the restrooms. The restrooms and boat ramp are still kept up for use. There are picnic tables and fire pits still available near the swimming beach. There is one large pavilion overlooking Smith Lake. There is a boat ramp at the end of the road with a pit toilet. Would be a great place to launch kayaks, canoes, or motor boats.

A great find for our overnight stay

We found the park on the Dyrt Ap, just browsing parks in the area to stop and boy did we strike gold! Clean, nice pads, beautiful setting next year we plan to stay a couple nights to explore the area

    Tips from RVers

Navigation challenges: Some campgrounds require careful driving. For Quail Creek, a camper advised: "Go left at the stop sign on Mt. Zion Rd from Nat Key Rd when departing the CG! When we departed, heading back towards the interstate, you come to a stop sign. Our RV GPS and Waze wanted us to turn right on Mt. Zion Rd instead of going left as we did when we arrived. We took the right turn, and about the time the trailer swung, we saw the drop-off into the ditch."

Site selection: At Redstone Arsenal RV Park & Campground, "The pads here are huge and the utilities including 50 AMP worked well." Satellite users should note "there are no trees near the RV sites." At Thousand Trails Hidden Cove, "A and B sections are the original sections. C section is brand new with 50 amps hookup. All the big rigs there."

Electric service reliability: Power stability can be an issue at certain campgrounds. At Greensport RV Park, a camper reported, "We did have some issues but I was able to verify with the grounds electrician that the low voltage issue was due to Alabama electric and not the camp ground. Hopefully that will be resolved soon, but we did have a low voltage issue on line one of our 50amp service."
