Welcome, Under the Hoof is a 28 acre farm. After 2 years of wandering in both our B and A class RVs plus a year in Mexico, we decided to settle in for a while. When we traveled we stayed at HarvestHost.com locations all over the country and we are now excited about having the opportunity to be hosts.

Today, we have goats, chickens, dogs, and gopher tortoises. We are a Stewardship Forest, a Certified Tree Farm, and a designated gopher tortoise habitat We have a new shop, a bunkhouse & bath, our animals, and a good start on clearing the 25 acres of overgrown timberland to be used in the future as silvopasture.

Our shop is an active woodworking shop complete with a finishing room. We make small gift items (sold in art studios) and custom furniture. Our goats are all does, we will breed them in the fall (2022 - done) so the kidding season will begin in April/May 2023. Our chickens (14) just eat, make noise and lay eggs.

On any given day we have lots going on. Morning chores, forest clearing (campsite prep), work going on in the shop. Merle teaches water aerobics most mornings and can always bring a guest. We spent time with the animals every day so most are very friendly and evening chores give you a great time to visit with them.

We are a working farm and Stewardship Forest. Chores happen every day. Goats are let out of the barn at 7:00 am (goat noise possible). Chickens are also up early (chicken sound likely) Aminals will be animals so during breeding (Nov./Dec) and kidding season (April/May) you may see nature being nature.

Guests can purchase work from our shop, eggs from the girls, and other various amenities (shower, electricity, water. NO WASTE DUMP.

10-stars⭐️ Tranquil rural cabin on a working farm/ goats, chickens🌅

10-Stars⭐️ We came down from North Georgia, to put a contract on a home in Brewton, AL nearby and found this lovely cabin on working Goat, Chicken, Tortoise, etc& Tree farm on AirBNB.:-) Merle& Russ treated us like family, and have stayed friends ever since❣️ They stocked the cabin with all kinds of extra touches& even left us some wine to enjoy after our long trip. Peaceful and tranquil out there. Great hosts and special friends❣️ P.S. We joyfully bought our home there, and even came back to stay at the cabin when we closed on the home and during the moving in process. We moved my precious Momma, Connie, in with us and Mom was able to stay at the cabin that week till we got unpacked& her bedroom/bath suite all ready for her. She fell in love with the tranquility there, too. Merle& Russ checked on her like she was their own Mother, Lordy- we could not have asked for any more special care!! Thank you both!! Love, Donna, Artie and Connie🌅

    Super Fun Mud Park

We love Boggs! If you have 4 wheelers, sxs, mud trucks or even just a gas powered golf cart, come check this place out. RV Hookups, Cabins, primitive camping and Boondocking available. Bath house and showers are a little scary so I recommend bringing an equipped camper or renting a cabin with a bathroom. The cafe has yummy breakfast and serves standard concession food the rest of the day. They are not open until Saturday so plan accordingly. We love to boondock here. There are lots of spots in the woods. Boggs offers a variety of different mud terrains, but also boasts gorgeous wooded trail systems, lakes, swamps and even a cave you can explore. My 7yr old lives for this place and it’s wonderful to watch him unplug and explore the outdoors with us and his friends. If you’re looking for a ritzy weekend, this place isn’t for you, but if you’re looking for a muddy, good time and making great memories, bring the whole family out for an adventure they won’t soon forget! 10/10 recommend this place!

    Trails Horse/Atv

This place has a lot of amenities pool, fishing, horse and atv trails that are great for beginner horseriders. Bathhouses are pretty nice cabins are great and affordable. Stalls or paddocks for your horses fresh water. Also has an arena to ride in. The camp sites don’t have a lot of shade but you can cool off in the pool. This is not a campsite in the deep woods it’s out in the open so don’t expect a woodsy feel although the trails make up for it they are well kept.

    Twin Lakes Camp Resort

Beautiful, picturesque privately owned and run resort with a camping feel.

A private, gated road leads to level, stamped concrete pads landscaped with red lava rock around 2 lakes with great fishing either on the water or newly renovated or rebuilt piers lighted for night fishing. They have, likely, the nicest shower rooms you'll encounter on the rv trail. A well equipped camp store has everything you need to get by and some things you didn't realize you need ( hello hammock seats that I had to drop $200 on). They have townhouse cabins and glamping yurts as well as a community center, pool, and laundry room. Full hookups and Wi-Fi. Sites not located on the waterfront are elevated so they still have a water view. Since buying this resort a few years ago, the new owners have poured their hearts and souls into updating this resort into a next level haven for the new generation of the rv lifestyle.

The Oaks Family RV Park & Campground

    Amazing campground!!

I’ll start out from the beginning of my experience in a nut shell. On the way to Florida from NE Alabama we experienced our first blow out. Sat on the interstate for 2 hours. Get to our first camp ground and can’t get to an open restaurant and there’s no stores with groceries due to panic buying during hurricane sally. Made do with meatless spaghetti. Woke up the next morning to the camp ground flooded and mostly evacuation. Pulled out of there and ended up staying at a hotel. On our way home we had a second blow out less than 30 minutes after getting on the road. My husband decides that we are going to find somewhere to stay and replace all tires before trying to continue home. I called the lovely folks at oaks family campground and they kindly took us in with no more than a 10 minute notice. They made a point to come speak to us while we set up. Didn’t worry us with payment and check in until we were settled. Gave us directions to the near by Walmart and tire stores. The grounds themselves are simply perfect. Not a piece of grass out of place. It is very quiet and off the main road but close enough to town. Clean well functioning amenities. The concrete pads and wide sites make for an easy set up for any level camper. 10/10 recommend this campground and would give it more stars if possible. Happy camping!

    Would never recommend this place!

This place has a list of issues. For beginners they list they have leveled pads and let me just tell you the are FAR from that. People drive through the campsite all night long doing 30-40 MPH! They have a barn and every night people are over there partying being loud not caring about the people that actually have work the next morning. The washers and dryer’s absolutely suck you have to dry your cloths 4 times for them to be dry!!! I could go on for hours about the terrible experience I had here!

    Don’t waste your time here.

I’ll start out with the PROS. Good service for AT&T and Verizon (3-4) bars. Lots are spaced out, you’re not on top of people.

THE CONS The staff here are very rude! WAY over priced for the area, Unlevel pads, wifi doesn’t connect to my computer nor phone. Sewer pipe doesn’t have threads so I was forced to go out and buy an adapter for it. Also for everyone traveling with your pets. As stated (For your dog to be here is a Privilege)

My opinion doesn’t matter but I’ll refer everyone to go to Cypress landing Rv park instead

    Great Experience!

We had a great experience camping here! We’re seasoned tent campers but just bought our first RV and had a ton of questions 😂. Robbie was so helpful and knowledgeable, he made our stay super easy and shared all kinds of helpful tips. Friendly staff and neighbors!

The campground is very clean, neat and tidy. It’s very clear the maintenance of the grounds is never let go. The concrete pads are level and have plenty of maneuvering space around them(helpful especially if you’re new). The bathhouse has 4 large private bathrooms with showers, toilets, sink and an oversized bench for your stuff. The pavilion has grills, a tv and a massive brick fireplace. The pond is very peaceful and makes for a great spot to watch the sunrise. It’s also full of fish for you to catch and there’s a designated fish cleaning station by the bath houses! There’s also a fenced in miniature dog park! There’s a cell tower nearby so service is great and our HDTV antenna picked up crystal clear. The park is easily accessible from the highway and clearly marked. The gravel road in the campground is tidy, solid and well maintained like the rest of the park.

We’ll be back again very soon!

    Will return, must visit!

We have camped at this campground a couple times and each time we've loved it. The campground is nice and neat and clean, the playground is awesome it has a zipline and it will hold grown-ups we like to play on, it is very well kept, the owners are very helpful and accommodating, will definitely return again. And it's right on the outskirts of town making it convenient if you forgot something at home to run to town and get. This is a new campground Andres I said we absolutely love it

Nice place for a quick stay

We had a pull behind travel trailer and needed a place to park for the night with our three boys. It’s a nice little park with a playground and lake which is pretty. However when we pulled in and hooked up, our electrical box at our site was broken with the door literally on the ground overgrown by bushes and the site was pretty washed out. It is a decent little place to stay at night but if you have little ones, be advised there’s no fire pit to rock some s’mores and just not a ton for the little ones to do.

    Run down and misleading website

After reserving a"pull-through" site eight weeks in advance, we were told that we had been moved to an adjacent site upon arrival. No explanation was offered but after telephoning the owner in Chicago, the guy at the gate said we could have our original site after all and led us to it. One day later, neighbor campers arrived and we learned that they had also been booked into the site that we were in, however they had only booked four weeks earlier. Double booking is common apparently, and we learned that during a busy Halloween weekend, several guests had to be shuffled around to the permanent residents due to lack of space...including sleeping in cars. Although the site we booked was marked as a pull-through on the website, due to the location of the trees and the length of our pull-behind(28 ft), it was impossible to actually pull through, and we backed out of the site when it was time to leave. The tree cover is nice and shady, however several low hanging limbs make maneuvering difficult. We could not extend our awning fully without hitting a tree. Some sites have sewer hook-ups but the community dump station was closed. We were told to find an empty site that had sewer and just dump there. We had to move to two different sites to find a sewer hookup that worked. Many of the sewer ports are located on elevated ground when compared to the campsite, so the sewage is forced to flow up hill. Maneuvering this campsite is not easy. The map on the website is misleading and no in/out loop exists. What is marked as an outer road on the map is an overgrown dirt path now. Coupled with week cell service the available wi-fi only works inside of the clubhouse. Also, our 30 amp camp site could not support AC and a microwave for 30 seconds without tripping the breaker. With that said, the people we met were very nice, but we will never return.
