Eagle Point Campground requires reservations and charges $25-$45 per night for walk-in tent sites along the Emerald Bay peninsula. The campground accommodates RVs up to 18 feet, though most sites work better for tents due to the multi-level terrain layout.
The peninsula setting creates natural separation between campsites, with tent pads often positioned several feet below or above picnic tables and fire rings. "Spots pretty spread out and amazing views," notes Morgan D.. Each site includes a bear box, picnic table, and fire pit, with firewood available for purchase from rangers. Bear activity is common, and staff actively enforce food storage rules with fines for non-compliance.
Campers can access Lake Tahoe via a quarter-mile trail that leads down to small beach areas suitable for kayak launches and swimming. The Rubicon Trail departs directly from the campground, connecting to Eagle Falls and continuing around Emerald Bay to DL Bliss State Park. Several shorter trails within the campground lead to viewpoints overlooking both Lake Tahoe and Emerald Bay itself.
Restroom facilities include flush toilets and hot showers that cost $1 per three-minute token. "Sites are kept clean," reports Gína W., though some reviewers note the upper section bathrooms show more wear than the newer lower section facilities. Cell service reaches most areas of the campground. Pets are allowed in campsites but prohibited on trails and beaches within the state park.
The campground works well for hikers and those planning to explore Emerald Bay on foot, though water access requires carrying gear down the beach trail.
