Elk sightings at close range and fishing on the reservoir draw campers to this state park site in northern New Mexico, where the season runs May 15 through September 15. Sites are well spaced. Full hookups are available, including electric, water, and sewer, with a 45-foot RV limit, plus showers and a dump station on-site. Reservations are accepted, and even in August the campground tends to stay uncrowded. Anglers planning a trip should note that Grassy Point Campground — El Vado Lake State Park sits just 0.1 miles away for additional waterfront access. Bring cash for the non-electric sites, which run $10 per night.
