The sound of flowing water accompanies campers at this five-site Forest Service campground positioned along the Wood River. Accessed by roughly 10 miles of graded gravel road, Wood River Campground sits within forested terrain that accommodates RVs up to 16 feet and works well for tent camping and smaller trailers.

Each of the five sites provides ample space among the trees, with reviewers consistently noting the clean condition of both campsites and pit toilets. Bryan P. found the facilities "surprisingly very clean and well kept." The river's constant flow creates natural background sounds, though occasional cattle trucks pass during daylight hours on the access road.

Wildlife sightings occur regularly throughout the campground, and the forested setting offers more shade compared to higher elevation options like Brown Mountain located further west. The Wood River provides direct water access for those interested in fishing or simply enjoying riverside relaxation.

Campers planning extended stays in the region can explore additional places to camp around Meeteetse for variety. The campground operates from late May through September, making it a seasonal base for exploring the surrounding national forest terrain.

Quiet Riverside Camp

Beautiful riverside campground with a small amount of spots, 5. Darker and less views than Brown Mtn CG further west but it is still a wonderful site. Loads of wildlife.
