Stayed for 6 nights

The campground is amazing. Very easy to maneuver even a 43 foot long camper.

Check in was super easy, the hosts were out of this world. They kept the place clean and tidy.

Honestly I usually base a KOA on how the shower house is kept and maintained; I have yet to see a shower house this clean and easy to use out of all the stops I have been at.

The heated pool wasn’t heated it was pretty freezing, but when it got super hot out: no one cared!

The firewood guy(as I have come to call him) will help with anything. He is carting firewood all day but stops to see if anyone needs help with anything while they set up. Was very nice.

Only downside is the town closes down very early. And if you are at the parks all day then that can be quite a downer at night.

The entire town shut down at 1pm one day for a huge party at the BBQ.

Food in the area is amazing. And I have celiacs disease. I found zero cross contamination which literally NEVER happens.

Good night along the way

We stayed one night at this KOA on our way to the Grand Tetons National Park from Wind Cave National Park. It was a nice campground and we enjoyed our stay. Staff was friendly and had our site ready for us upon arrival.

This campground is what we tend to expect from staying at a KOA. We had a pull-thru site that was in the trees and relatively level gravel site. When ever possible we enjoy sites in the tress. We were in a shorter pull-thru site but with our extended cab truck and our 25' trailer, we pretty much maxed out the length of the site but were able to stay hooked up. The hookups worked well but the water connection was very low to the ground which required us to change up our normal fresh water setup, but everything worked out well with a little modifications on our end.

On most of our one night stays we have a tendency to stick in-side of our tailer, have dinner, and go to bed. This night we ended up sitting out side with our portable fire pit and listening to the river near by.

If we were ever traveling through this area again we would stay here again.

Unique area

Dubois/Wind River KOA, Dubois , Wyoming

Dubois , Wyoming is another town on the old west trail. I only stayed overnight after Grand Teton NP but would have stayed longer had my schedule allowed to explore more. It is a little touristy but there is history there if you search it out.

The KOA was a smaller one, back behind a gas station which was convenient. There are cool TP’s that you can rent and the cabins site along the Wind River which makes for some nice scenery when you are chilling at the campground. Don’t look to hard though, across the river is a neighborhood. The road in was a little rough and the gravel needed some maintenance, otherwise it was a well maintained parking lot like so many of the KOA’s are now. The playground equipment looked archaic! I did not use any of the facilities so I have no information on them and there was no dog park. I arrived after close, found my paperwork on the lite kiosk and I left out in the morning before the office opened. For the price I expect more but it seems like the area dictates the quality of the KOA.

This is wonderful site to base out of for Grand Tetons.

Sites are well spread out and the ones on the river are private. This has more of a feeling of a State Park. The pool was drained while we were there but everything else was great. They deliver firewood and ice to your site but be aware there is limited propane refill in this town. The KOA were in process of adding a tank. Folks running the site could not have been nicer. Bear spray is recommended if hiking in the park or the area. It is expensive if you buy it up in this neck of the woods.
