Accessible via gravel roads from Albany, Rob Roy Campground operates from mid-June through October 1 at $20 per night. The US Forest Service facility accommodates RVs up to 30 feet and provides vault toilets, picnic tables, and trash service, though campers must bring their own water. Sites spread throughout the wooded area near the reservoir, with some offering lake views and fire rings.
Heavy ATV traffic uses the area, and a boat ramp provides reservoir access for fishing and kayaking. Campers report spotting deer, chipmunks, and bald eagles, along with mosquitoes during summer months. The campground sees light use on weeknights, keeping facilities clean. For those wanting dispersed options, Laramie Overlook Disperesed Camping sits northeast of the area.
Description
The campground is comprised of a cascading, tight loop configuration along a hillside among mixed pines. Some sites overlook the Rob Roy Reservoir, but most are tucked into the hillside. Rob Roy Reservoir is 500 acres and is a popular area for boating and water skiing. There are 65 sites that provide tables, fire rings, trash pick-up, and vault toilets. There are facilities nearby in Albany. It is located in the Snowy Range and is managed by the Laramie Ranger District.
