Reservation Info
This campground was decomissioned for 10 years due to us having to clear cut the are because of pine beetle infestation. With a partnership with Common Outdoor Ground, a volunteer group and Forest Service employees were able to clean up the campground and get it in working order. There are 27 sites, all with access to a picnic table, fire ring, metal barbeque grill, and vault toilets. No trash service or potable water. Dogs must be leashed in the campground. The road through the campground is still very soft, and many of the sites aren't accessibile for trailers. Please use caution. The campground still doesn't have many trees, but it is just as beautiful as before. The Nash Fork Creek meanders through the campground. The campground is convenient to the Snowy Range Scenic Byway (State 130). There are 102 recreational lakes in this area, with an extensive network of trails linking them including Brooklyn Lake, which is located 3 miles north of campground. Huge campground, 10% full last week in June.
Tons of downed trees for firewood (check if fires are allowed when you visit). Excellent small trout stream runs next to the campground that has some nice brown’s. The hike up to the lake is nice. Pit toilets only, but easy access off the main highway. Flat sites, secluded sites. Something for RV’s and tents. Suitable for cars, trucks and RV’s up to ~25’ I’d say.

Now reopened and clear cut
The campground is back open which was good. The whole area was full on a Thursday and this was the last campground with a spot. So we got lucky. The trees have been clearcut and now is a mess. The stumps remain with lots of loose branches everywhere. Handy for having campfires. There are sites around the perimeter that are still quite nice. There is a nice stream that flows along the east side. The campground is near many of the recreation activities so it was a good location. The outhouses were clean but no water. We had a moose visit the campground each night. Would have preferred some of the other campgrounds but Nash worked well and we got lucky. It was a good weekend.
Closed as of 6/2018
This campgroud has been closed for several years due to pine bark beetle damage. If the USFS cuts down all the beetle killed trees and reopens the campground it will be, unfortunately, like many of the others in the area, like camping in a clear cut. It is still a great area to be in but the days of campsites shaded by lodgepole pines are gone and will be for another 30-40 years. As of June 22, 2018 this campground was closed.
