Nice and quiet amazing

Spread Creek Dispersed Campground sounds like the perfect escape for anyone wanting peace, open space, and that raw connection with nature you just can’t get in crowded campsites. The mix of grassy meadows and the calming creek really paints a relaxing picture—honestly, it feels like the kind of place where you can unplug during the day and then, when you want a little entertainment at night, switch over to something like TV Garden to catch live shows without losing that outdoor vibe.

Close to the river

We stayed here one night in May 2024. Drove in and it was dry - then a snowstorm came through. It was so beautiful! We were right by the river. It was a bumpy road back in and a little eerie the farther back you went. I wouldn't have stayed here by myself unless I stayed in the big gravel parking lot as you drive in. No pit toilets. We saw tents, RV's, and I have a van. Right down the road from Toppings BLM area.

VERY buggy and crowded - a lot of large campers/rvs

We arrived at Spread Creek on Sunday evening, and almost every spot in this area was full except 1 spot. Luckily, this site did have a bear food storage container and a fire ring. It was a few 100 yards from a little stream, and not too far from the larger, Spread Creek itself. Within in moments of showing up, the ambassador for the area showed up and told us about the bear sightings and how they've been getting into people's food because they aren't storing it properly. He also reminded us it was a "shared" camp area. We ended up not staying the night, just because of bad vibes we felt and the outrageous amount of mosquitos and horse flies!

Beautiful easily accessible spots for all sorts of travelers

Spent a few nights here with my family tent camping. Saw more tents, some rvs, campers etc all able to get to sites. Some Mountain View’s some creek views and access. Beautifully nestled in the woods yet close enough to amenities. The ranger or host at site 5 was helpful and aware of wildlife presence and kept us feeling safe. Can’t wait to come back.

Spacious secluded sites

Really love these sites. Very popular though, even into September. We went past site 20 before we found an empty spot. Our site had two campfire rings in a massive grassy meadow, with a creek down behind it. No view of the mountains, but quiet and pretty among the trees.

nice spots

Nice Dispersed Camping. Doesn’t have Grand views of the Tetons but has nice grassy level areas and spots by the creek. If you run stuck there are big grassy sites in the back that could easily accommodate multiple campsites. Some rough road but you’ll be fine with an SUV/truck. Bring bug spray!

Pretty & Easy Access

This area is very pretty, we saw a family of deer eating in the field on our way out this morning. The spots towards the back are few and far between, which is a plus and a minus. We ended up camping back at 9 with someone else who was already there after we asked their permission. We walked the creek in the morning, the dogs really liked it here.

Towards the back there is a loop with just a few sites, #7-13 I believe. The road on the left is #7-9 (they are spaces very far apart). The road on the right which I would recommend having 4wd accessibility for hosts sites #10-13. Since we went left, we didn't check out the right road. The back sites don't get much view but their local areas are pretty.

The front sites seemed to also be quite dispersed from eachother except for the gravel. You do get the best view of the Teton Mountain Range at the gravel, but you will likely be camped right next to someone.

It is quite cold at night mid September. Our truck showed 34 degrees in the morning about 8am.

A Fine Stop

Decent view of the Tetons if you're in the front of the dispersed gravel patch, but it gets crowded so don't count on a view. Nice place for big rigs, porta potty included on site.

Note: we tried to take our big rig up the road to further spots past the gravel patch and I would not recommend it. The road is not wide enough for large rigs and it was exceedingly crowded in the back due to a summer camp (?) being there and tons of people.

Sunset over the Tetons

Stayed here to get away from crowds at the national parks. We had to drive pretty far back because we didn’t get there very early, but the spot we found was deserted, and we had a beautiful view of the Tetons with the sun setting over them while eating dinner. Campsites are huge and therefore you can get unexpected new campers sharing the site late at night. But it was very quiet and beautiful. We didn’t see any bears at the site, but there were signs and we saw 5 grizzlies the next morning in Grand Teton.

Beautiful Spot

This is a very large dispersed camping area (~4-5 miles worth) with intermittently spaced sites. It does fill up very early so I would recommend trying to get a spot before 3pm. However, the further back you go, the better the views (but the bumpier the road) and gives you closer proximity to the creek. There are amazing views of the Tetons and access to the park as well as a great Verizon signal and moderate ATT. The stars on a moonless night are perfect to see - we were able to see the milky way, space station and a few satellites.

Big

We stayed at site 10 on Forest Service road 30290. No markings on the road. Good gravel road until you hit National Forest. There is a very large gravel parking lot area for big rigs. We have a 24’ toyhauler. We stayed right and followed the road down until a T, then went left. And came across site 10. It already had a camper in it and had plenty of space. The current occupants were not keen on sharing but took our name and number if they were going to leave. We shortly got a text saying we could stay. They ended up leaving that day while we were out. Everyday since then other people have squished into our site. Every time we leave, we come back to more people. There is space but several people seam to share one spot. I guess it’s ok, but it is kinda weird people don’t even ask. It’s hard because we boondock for space and because we have a dog. But everyone is friendly so we decided may as well make friends. Fingers crossed nobody blocks us in.

Spread is right!

We drove around for 3.5 hours looking for a campsite for a last minute trip to Grand Teton over Labor Day. This was the ONLY place we could find that had any camping spots left, and even then we had to drive pretty far back into the woods to get there. "Spread" creek dispersed campground is a very accurate name! Many of the camping spots were enormous- big enough for several campers or tents- and there was a LOT of driving space between each site, so you really feel secluded.

Nice and quiet

We were lucky to find an open spot. There are 14 campsites dispersed down a four mile long gravel road. Part of the National Forest. Great views of the Tetons from several sites. We made it to the end of the road in our 38’ motorhome with tow vehicle attached. Just drive slow. Kids had a blast playing along Spread Creek. Tons of mosquitoes, so bring lots of bug spray. Had AT&T cell service and Verizon. Probably my favorite spot to camp on our recent trip, other than those darn mosquitoes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Spread Creek dispersed camping located in Wyoming?

Spread Creek Dispersed Campground is located in Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming, near Grand Teton National Park. The camping area provides views of the Teton mountain range from several sites, particularly those at the front of the area. It offers a convenient base for exploring both Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. The campground is situated along Spread Creek with wooded areas and meadows throughout the dispersed camping zone.

What's the difference between Spread Creek Meadow and the main Spread Creek dispersed camping area?

The main Spread Creek dispersed camping area features multiple camping zones with different characteristics. At the entrance, there's a large gravel parking lot area suitable for big rigs with some Teton views. Taking a right past this area leads to more wooded sites near the creek. The area follows typical 14-day stay limits. No formal services are provided except for a porta potty in the main gravel parking area. Pack out all trash, practice Leave No Trace principles, and maintain appropriate distance from water sources. Fire restrictions may apply seasonally, so check current conditions before your trip.
