Spread Creek Campsites 8-13

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Gravel roads and creek access define the experience at Spread Creek Campsites 8-13, a dispersed area within Teton National Forest managed by the US Forest Service. The road is rough, with rocky sections and mud potential in wet weather, and some spots require four-wheel drive. Sites 8-13 sit past an initial staging area that can look like a construction lot, so campers should continue down the road. Spots fill by midday on weekends. No toilets are on-site, so bring a portable or plan to dig cat holes.

A cold creek runs nearby, usable for filtered water. Bear boxes are present at some but not all sites, and sharing may be required. Pets are allowed, and campfires are permitted. Campers staging trips into the Tetons will find this a functional base, and those browsing places to camp near Teton National Forest can compare nearby options before committing. Arrive early if you want a choice of sites.

Great location for Teton trip

I came to this spot because it had water access and it’s a good spot for staging to go to the Tetons. Road is rough in a lot of spots but doable for a 2 wheel drive. It’s mostly just rocky.. take it slow. There was not a lot of vacancy but I did manage to find a spot. There are signs posted where they do not want you to camp. Very peaceful as well.

Coffee & Mountains

My daughter and I stayed here for 1 night. We arrived at dark and was so lucky to find one spot still available that my suv could access. There were more open spots on back the road but you need 4 wheel drive because the pot holes were pretty deep. We woke up to the most beautiful view. It was a crispy morning in late August so my daughters campfire breakfast and coffee were ad amazing as the view. Make sure you go get your sandwiches from cross creek in Jackson before your hike. It is a short jaunt and the sandwiches are soo worth it!!! If you are hiking from Jenny Lake get there early because the spots fill up really quick.

Gorgeous! Not very private

We stayed 3 days, 2 nights and loved it! The roads were gravel and it rained quite a bit while we were there so there were some pretty good mud holes along the way.

You have to pass by a camping area that looks more like a construction parking area to get to the actual tent camping spots, so don’t be discouraged if that’s all you see at first. There are several spots along the gravel road and we stayed in site 13A. It was the only spot available when we arrived late Saturday but it was great because it was probably the only site with any privacy to speak of. If you want your pick of spots I suggest getting there early morning. That’s when campers would leave out.

Our site had a bear locker, but from what I saw maybe half of the campsites had them and we were supposed to share with other campers if needed. There was also an ice cold creek close by where we filled up our water filtration bags and solar shower. There was never enough sunlight to warm up the shower though so we didn’t get to shower while we were there🤣 also, have to either dig a cat hole or bring your own potty.

Other than the birds and squirrels the only wildlife we encountered were a few deer and a little fox that came out while we were cleaning up our dinner. But there was an area that looked like a ton of moose had pooped in one spot right at the front of our site. We didn’t notice it til the next morning, and it didn’t really affect us but I would bet it might be why nobody else had camped in that spot🤣
