Solitude RV Park

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Sitting in a draw just outside Dubois, Solitude RV Park occupies a landscape with no trees, no grass, and open sightlines toward the surrounding high desert terrain and hoodoos. The entry passes a storage area, which catches some visitors off guard, but the sites themselves spread across 60 acres with enough spacing that neighbors rarely feel close. This is an RV-focused operation with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer, though no bathhouse or restroom facilities are on-site.

Water pressure varies by location. Sites lower in the draw tend to have better pressure, while higher sites like the pull-through 1a run lower, something the campground notes on its own website. The hookups are 50-amp only, so campers with 30-amp rigs will want to bring an adapter. Wind picks up during the day and can stir dust across the open desert ground, but after dark the draw's low light pollution makes for clear skies overhead. Several reviewers specifically mention the stargazing as a reason to return.

ATV and hiking trails extend to the north into the backcountry, and a fishing and walking path sits just across the street. The rodeo grounds are nearby as well, and downtown Dubois is walkable in roughly 15 minutes. WiFi is available and has worked well for remote work, though video calls can be inconsistent. As Rocky H. puts it, "stars at night are beautiful with little light pollution." Campers looking for a well-connected base with room to spread out and backcountry access right from their site will find this a practical choice.

Campers regularly cited the spacious, private sites with stunning mountain views and helpful host Eric. Multiple visitors reported excellent stargazing opportunities in this quiet setting, though basic facilities make it best suited for self-contained RVs.

Solitude and Beauty

Stopped here for a night on my way to the Tetons and it was just what I needed. No bugs, no fuss, gorgeous views. I was greeted at check-in and they made sure I was all set. Needed 50A adapter. Would definitely stay again!

Stunning & Peaceful

When you first pull up you are little suspicious cause you have to go past this storage area. But once you get to your site, it’s just amazing with stunning views and privacy. It is. I have to say one of the most impressive campsites I’ve been at. I guess just because I like the Tranquility of it.

Lives up to its name

This is an interesting place, right close to town, but isolated in a draw, so feels like you’re out in the boonies. Stars at night are beautiful with little light pollution. Full hook ups, but we were in a site that they tell you on the website has low water pressure so we knew. The sites that are lower have better pressure, I guess.  I had loaded our tank before staying anyway, so no big deal. We were in site 1a, which was a pull through site. The back in sites have plenty of room to back into, so when we go again I would probably reserve one of those instead. There is access to trails to the back country to the north, so a great place to bring an ATV and explore.

No trees or grass, but not a big deal to us. The landscape is scenic. Their website says the scenery from 1a is not as good as the other sites, but we liked it.

Awesome stay - very fitting name!

We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back and also recommending this place to anyone we know heading to Dubois.

GENERAL: very spacious, wide gravel roads, 60 aces- hiking; biking; ATV and off road accessible; great customer service and got discounted rate when scheduling over the phone vs online. All sites are back-in, but plenty of space to navigate.

SITE: Very spacious, very few neighbors and spread out when you do have neighbors; 50 amp only, but we have an adapter to 30amp so no issue; The starts at night were insanely beautiful!

WIFI: We work remote and the wifi was surprisingly strong and good for working remote. Occasionally spotty for video calls, but good otherwise. We looked out to Hamburger Point. You feel you are alone in the great outdoors with a beautiful setting.

OTHER: Walkable to downtown(about 1.5); Fishing and great walking path right across the street. We went to the rodeo on Friday night and the grounds are right across the street. The small town was historic and nice to walk around. Check out the Rustic Tavern and/or Outlaw Saloon for a drink while you're there! Very windy most of the day so we didn't keep our windows open unfortunately. Too much dust whipping around and gusty, although the roads were gravel, everywhere else around is dessert and dirt. Grocery is nearby- a bit pricey and the produce isn't that great, but was good for the necessities while in town.

Basic and Beautiful

We found Solitude when all the other campgrounds in the vicinity listed on The Dyrt were sold out and one of the owners recommended it. It’s nestled in between a soaring mountain and a hoodoo. The camp host Eric is most welcoming and helpful and FYI, is also the town Sheriff!! He asked if we wanted a fire & brought us a pile of beautiful wood at no charge. This is a basic campground with no bath house or toilet facilities so more designed for RVs. There are ATV & hiking trails all over with incredible views of the beautiful mountains.
