One night to start our trip

Staff was lovely and accommodating. They upgraded us to FHU at no addl charge since the site we had booked was closed for the season. Yeah there is some highway noise, which i suspect would be more problematic in a tent. We're going to stay here on our way back as well, and drive the Pilot Butte Scenic loop to look for wild horses!

New Exprience

The campground is fine. However, we had a pull through and the area we were in they put one camper faced one way and another faced the other way to maximize hook ups in between two units. Results in your campside facing a neighbor campside. Might feel awkward if you are trying to enjoy the outside. The bathrooms looked clean and everything else seems fine. An area plus is an local drive to see wild horses. we did and and saw some.

Good place for a overnight

This KOA definitely goes by all the rules , no online chekins after 4 and if you didn’t pay before you got there you paid more. Lots of RV’s looks like long term, camp on gravel no pads , no no food, bery small store.. facilities were clean, not to warm for me, Staff certainly did not want to spend much time answering questions .. but worked in a pinch

OK , but only if you’re just passing through

Huge open spaces, more like a dirt parking lot. The staff was friendly, but for the price I paid, I expected a little more. lots of car alarms going off, lots of dogs barking, but it’s been nice to have a little greenery or some trees.

Quick stop

Just traveling though. Here for the night. Super easy check in. Friendly staff. Was pretty empty. Little highway noise but not too bad. Slept just fine in the roof top tent. Not a ton of bugs. Few skeeters and moths but not as bad as the last place we stayed in

Expensive for what we got

This is a KOA Journey but for the price their charge I was expecting to get more. Other reviews mentioned a pool, which would have been nice since we went through there during a heat wave but the pool was closed. This looked more like a RV Park(i.e.: parking lot) than a campground. I would not go back.

Helpful on short notice

We usually reserve sites at least a month out. This one was 3 days out (planned one cancelled on us due to COVID outbreak). Grounds are gravel and muddy (must have rained hard recently). We were looking forward to using the pool, however their heater is on the fritz. Few trees. Staff are nice. It’s a ok place to stop for the night. Can’t miss it. It’s right off I-80 next to the giant white tank farm.

Great scenery

Nice campground with great scenery. I would highly recommend renting one of the deluxe sites that come with a cement patio, table with an umbrella, and a privacy wall. We’ll worth the extra $10. The only negative was the pool was not very clean, could not even see our feet in 3’ water. Could just have been a simple chemical imbalance

Good for a stop over

Good place for a stopover. Mostly level. The patio sites were much better than the plain sites. Wish we had gotten one of those. Loved the pool! There was a jump pad, and a K9 area.

Okay trail around the side and the back of the campground. My son had fun climbing things. There were old buildings to look at (go in?)

Easy place to crash between Denver and Jackson Hole WY

We just needed a quick place to crash on the way from Denver to Jackson Hole Wy area.  We didn't want to make the full drive at once since we needed to set up a campsite when we got there, so we stopped here.

It had snowed the night before and it was cold.  However, the fences protect the campsites for the tent campers, so we didn't feel the wind at all.  We were so well protected.  We were even able to pull our car in front of the site, and this blocked our site from view of others.

The facilities were nice:  bathrooms were spotless and there were laundry facilities and many other things.

There was even a cute dog park that we could exercise our husky in. He was happy :).  Plus, the fencing around the campsite allowed us to set up a nice dog run for him.

The people were very nice when checking in, and it was very organized.

We would stay there again!

Desert Gem

It might be right off the freeway in the middle of Wyoming sparseness but it was a pleasure to stay here for the night. Clean facilities and bathroom, laundry room, exercise room. We stayed at a deluxe spot with a concrete pad and privacy fence. Staff was kind and very helpful. Good stop when you are tired and need to stay somewhere nice.

Nice pool and great for overnight

Clean organized KOA with nice pool. The site for pull through are alternated so the sewer connections are not underfoot for either side. The sites are very close and only the fenced off sites have fire pits. It is located directly behind several large oil tanks but enough off the highway the traffic is not heard much. Great hills behind property to let larger dogs get their wiggles out of them. Mostly designed for folks passing through the area.

Good stop for “along the way”

This is a “Journey” KOA and is being rated as such. The spaces are very close together and they pull neighbors in alternating directions so that you’re facing a neighbor’s front door when you come out of yours, minimizing privacy if you want to eat or cook outdoors. There are some premium spaces with fences and patios but they were all booked. The tent sites look very private with nice grass pads. The trailer sites are all gravel and dusty, but it’s pretty standard. Easy access off the highway and we didn’t experience any noise. The back of the property is very scenic with some off-roaring and hiking trails. If you’re in partial hook ups in the front of the grounds, you’ll be abutting the petroleum factory. The community showers and restrooms seemed pretty clean and well maintained. The laundry was basic and mostly functioning (a few out of order machines), but we did our laundry with no issue. The pool is small but clean and a good temperature. Staff is friendly and the office store is stocked. The area is very nearby to the Northern end of Flaming Gorge NRA which is pretty awesome. Plenty of other things to do nearby, though the towns of Rock Springs and Green River are a little lacking. Guests are mostly transient and, though the park filled up each day, it mostly cleared out by the following morning. Very convenient along the way stop but also nice for an extra night or two to explore the area! Ask in the office for some tips on places to explore.

Cute Tent Sites!

Standard KOA facilities. Very nice tent spots. Headed to the campground after a long day of driving and was pleasantly surprised to find fenced in tent spaces with plots of grass for the tents and an aspen in each lot! Water and electricity available in the spot also!
