Best Cabin Camping near Smoot, WY

Meticulously cared for family owned and run campground with log cabins. Many pros to this campground... Nice wide sites, most pull through, clean showers and laundry room. The people who run it are super friendly and helpful. Great liquor store and great food truck attached to the grounds. great hook ups, reception and even better WiFi. Only cons are that it is just off Hwy 89, but you don't hear road noise at night. No dog park and is over an hour to Grand Teton and Jackson Hole. We did find great hiking only a few minutes from the campground. We would definitely recommend this place. The owners are constantly out doing improvements, which impressed us a great deal

This remote cabin can be rented for $30 night if not in use by the forest service staff. This is a popular destination for snowmobiling in the winter month and fly fishing in the summer. I visited in July and the wild flowers were incredible in LaBarge Meadows. This is near the Tri-Basin drainage. The trail head for the Lander Cut-Off Trail is right at the cabin. There is an outhouse, picnic table in the yard and a fire ring. There is a stream right along the cabin and there is writer plumbing in the summer months.
There is a doorknob lock that you enter a code into to access the cabin that is provided upon your reservation. Call 307-877-4415 to make your reservation!

We absolutely loved this small cabin. it had a fenced area and plenty of room. bathroom was clean. Must bring your own toilet paper, water and mattresses but it's worth the hassle.

Spent two nights. Slept one night in the cabin other night outside. It rained both nights. Stayed dry both nights. Bring a nice pad to sleep on for sure. Cows everywhere. Side by sides race up and down the road. Hike around the cow trails. No cell service and no water. Propane stove and electric lights. Not sure about heat, but I think so. I'm definitely going back.

Crew has worked hard on improvements. Decided to stay for a while. WiFi is good, better than anyplace I’ve ever been. Great restaurant “The Den”! Gas is cheaper than in Pinedale. Propane on site. Convenience store...beer, liquor, deli. The only drawback is the wind gusts (so watch your awning)but that’s Wyoming! Beautiful sunsets, view of mountains!

I loved staying at the guard station! There is a spot to hang your hammock. You can relax by the fire pit or read a book on one of the two picnic tables provided.

Make sure to bring your own water.

We cheated. It was too cold to sleep outdoors the month we arrived at the Diamond Creek Campground... give us a break, we're from Arizona!

The guard station can be rented cheaply through Recreation.gov and it was worth every penny! With a wood-burning stove, we stayed nice and toasty. There were plenty of cots to move close to the wood-burning stove for a cozy night sleep.

What a beautiful area to camp! Dispersed camping with space for very large groups. Lots of dirt bike/quad trails. Beautiful views. Wish we could have stayed longer. Only annoying thing when we were there was there was a lot of cattle coming into our camp all the time. But other than that this place is great.

Quaint place with full hookups and amenities. The men's bathroom was quite dirty but the owners were friendly and the wifi worked well.

Pros: pretty creek, decent pool, and nice store.

Cons: lots of dead grass and weeds, trash in the fire pit, a full on junk yard on full display, and junk laying around.

Good enough for a stop over, but plenty of other places to try for multiple nights stay.

We got the last site which was for a RV but was given to us for our tent camping. It had both water and electric hook ups on site, and plenty of space for our tent. I gave this KOA 5 Stars all due to the site #26! We were directly next to a river stream which we were able to take our camp chairs and sit in the water. Like our own private oasis. Our site had a section that was concrete and that’s where my boyfriend had set up our kitchen area. #26 didn’t have anyone right directly next to us just a wooden rail and a river stream. The bathrooms were super clean and the showers were a good size also. Loved how they had a tv in the bathrooms. Shower while listening to the news or a tv show. They had a cute little store that sold a variety of camping items and food and drinks, candy, chips, medicines, toiletries and much more. Even though we didn’t hit the pool there was one and a nice size play area for the kids, and horseshoes for bigger kids. Also it’s about a 25min drive to the beautiful Bear Lake! Gorgeous! I will most definitely stay here again and again and will ask for #26! Thanks KOA for making our trip a great one! See you soon!

Lots of fun

It was a great campground but there were some very noisy people duromg quiet hours that no one seemed to monitor...

Boasts some creek side sites. Sites are very close together, water pressure is not great. Lot of roadside noise. The creek has a nice flow. Site was pretty level, great cell service through Verizon. WiFi sucks. Very “rustic” looking campground. It was OK for one night but I wouldn’t want to stay here any longer.

Staff will help ensure a relaxing stay. Pool is heated but not hot, due to being in the trees there is a few floating items but gets cleaned every day. Creek runs through the front of camp. You can fish in it. Playground is adequate for children. Plenty of dog runs.

This KOA is close to the mouth of Montpelier Canyonand therefore can be hot in the summer.  It does however lie right next to the creek!  Also right next to the creek before the campground is a doggy walking and poo area.  The office is large and has quite a few convenience items.  There are shaded picnic areas and camping with options for hookuos, the standard KOA stuff.  A little bonus was the kids playground complete with swings and other toys

I love to camp, Creek fish, and hunt there the only minus side is the narrow roads

Tons of game and fish, lots of fire wood, and Rocky Mountain pine beetles. The down side is narrow roads, trash everywhere I mean people quit littering.

Well, we loved this spot! Only ones here. Travelling in an RV. Some shallow snow on the track but firm beneath. Muddy if offtrack and saw some big ruts perhaps of people that struggled to get out. But stay on track and would be fine. Good protection from wind Minimal road noise Toilets at start of unpaved track Lake half frozen, locals fishing

Great spot off the highway. I think this specific area has like 10 or so designated spots. Looks to be pretty popular. I got the last one open, on a Monday. (There's a ton of other dispersed spots along the road, I initially had in the coordinates for the Palisade dispersed camping but all other areas were too mudy post rainstorm). My spot was closest to the road so it was kind of noisy but that doesn't really bug me much. The birds were chirping away and the sound of the creek made up for it. It gets really muddy so keep that in mind the closer you get to the water/ if it has recently rained all of the pull outs are a little sketchy. I helped push a girl out who was stuck near the water, and some other folks helped pull out a truck. Everyone around was super friendly (: there's vault toilets available for all to use as well as porta potties at a couple of the sites. I'd definitely come back, the lake is low but it is beautiful.

Amazing view, and great fishing access. Many places along the reservoir. Close to the road so traffic can be loud. Free to stay on most of the campsites along the reservoir aside from the boat ramp site. Beach front available but be careful of tides. My tent site was a max stay of 3 to 5 nights.
