Best Cabin Camping near Smoot, WY

Cabin rental options near Smoot, Wyoming include several historic guard stations and established campgrounds with cabin facilities. The Diamond Creek Guard Station in Idaho is housed in a small rustic cabin with a wood-burning stove, picnic tables, and fire pit. La Barge Guard Station offers similar rustic accommodations with an outhouse, picnic table, and seasonal water availability. "Spent two nights. Slept one night in the cabin other night outside. It rained both nights. Stayed dry both nights. Bring a nice pad to sleep on for sure," notes one visitor to Johnson Guard Station, which offers propane stove and electric lights.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Forest Service guard stations require guests to bring their own bedding, while more developed locations like Wolf Den RV Park provide fully furnished log cabins. Most guard stations are reservable through Recreation.gov or by calling the local Forest Service office. According to a visitor, "The guard station can be rented cheaply through Recreation.gov and it was worth every penny! With a wood-burning stove, we stayed nice and toasty." Montpelier Creek KOA offers cabin options with more amenities, including proximity to a swimming pool and playground.

Most rustic cabins require visitors to bring water, toilet paper, mattresses or sleeping pads, and all bedding. Guard stations typically have minimal furnishings and primitive toilet facilities. Propane stoves are available in some cabins, but guests should confirm cooking options when booking. Cabins at more developed locations like Flat Creek RV Park include more amenities but still require some personal supplies. Winter visitors should verify heating options, as wood-burning stoves are common in forest cabins. Based on reviews from The Dyrt, visitors should "make sure to bring your own water" when staying at guard stations, as most don't have running water available.

    La Barge Guard Station

    Amazing wild flowers !

This remote cabin can be rented for $30 night if not in use by the forest service staff. This is a popular destination for snowmobiling in the winter month and fly fishing in the summer. I visited in July and the wild flowers were incredible in LaBarge Meadows. This is near the Tri-Basin drainage. The trail head for the Lander Cut-Off Trail is right at the cabin. There is an outhouse, picnic table in the yard and a fire ring. There is a stream right along the cabin and there is writer plumbing in the summer months.
There is a doorknob lock that you enter a code into to access the cabin that is provided upon your reservation. Call 307-877-4415 to make your reservation!

    Wolf Den RV Park

    Small, very clean campground

Meticulously cared for family owned and run campground with log cabins. Many pros to this campground... Nice wide sites, most pull through, clean showers and laundry room. The people who run it are super friendly and helpful. Great liquor store and great food truck attached to the grounds. great hook ups, reception and even better WiFi. Only cons are that it is just off Hwy 89, but you don't hear road noise at night. No dog park and is over an hour to Grand Teton and Jackson Hole. We did find great hiking only a few minutes from the campground. We would definitely recommend this place. The owners are constantly out doing improvements, which impressed us a great deal

    Diamond Creek Guard Station

    Peaceful retreat

I loved staying at the guard station! There is a spot to hang your hammock. You can relax by the fire pit or read a book on one of the two picnic tables provided.

Make sure to bring your own water.

    Wolf Den RV Park

    Small Campground with Big Personality

We were traveling from the snow in the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone and wanted to find a place close by with warmer temps.   Found this campground on google search.  Has a total of 14 RV sites, all full hook ups with a picnic table,  some tent sites and about a dozen cabins.  RV sites are gravel and very level.  There is a playground and picnic area.  There is a shower house and a laundry.   The office has ice and some supplies.  There is a package store in the front and the town of Alpine is about 10 miles away.   The campground is very well kept and the owner is very helpful.   Great view of the mountains from any site and in all directions.

    Montpelier Creek KOA

Beautiful KOA on the Wyoming/ Idaho border

I like staying at KOA’s during road trips - I choose a cabin so I can have a bed, there are plenty of things for the kids to do and everyone can find their pace/place to wind down from the day. Some are definitely better than others - Montpelier Creek was one of the BEST. This is a beautiful KOA. Our cabin was right on the creek, and I found my pace and place on the porch and nature trail watching birds and listening to the creek while the kids enjoyed the pool and playground. Everything was in great shape, including the shower house. Wonderful area with lots of history and natural beauty.

    Indian Creek

Amazing views and wide open spaces

We came here just after the 4th of July holiday and it was so much more empty than the week before. The roads in can be a little tricky without a raised truck and 4 wheel drive when towing a large 5th wheel. But once you pick a spot it is so beautiful. Cool evenings and crisp mornings make the hot afternoons worth it. Gas and groceries right down the road. And there is a dump station and trash bins at the gas station. Very convenient.

    Daniel Junction

Price is way wrong on Dyrt

I was charged over $50 for a parking spot w/no water - there are no bathrooms here. Way overpriced for an electric site.
