Johnson Guard Station

Johnson Guard Station operates as a rustic cabin rental within Caribou National Forest, requiring campers to supply their own water, toilet paper, and sleeping pads. The facility features electric lights and a propane stove, with a fenced area providing defined boundaries around the structure. Cattle graze throughout the surrounding area, creating natural trail networks for exploration, while side-by-side vehicles frequently travel the access road.

The location lacks cell service and running water, positioning it among other camping near Caribou National Forest for those seeking disconnection from digital amenities. Reservations are available through the Forest Service, and the no-pets policy applies to all stays.

Very comfortable and clean

We absolutely loved this small cabin. it had a fenced area and plenty of room. bathroom was clean. Must bring your own toilet paper, water and mattresses but it's worth the hassle.

Decent spot

Spent two nights. Slept one night in the cabin other night outside. It rained both nights. Stayed dry both nights. Bring a nice pad to sleep on for sure. Cows everywhere. Side by sides race up and down the road. Hike around the cow trails. No cell service and no water. Propane stove and electric lights. Not sure about heat, but I think so. I'm definitely going back.
