GuideI can’t think of one negative comment, even the towns 9 o’clock curfew alarm was charming. The concrete sites are level and spacious with tables, fire pits and charcoal grills. The grounds are well cared with a small playground and dog run. Staff are friendly and helpful. There is a paved walk just steps out of the campground where we took a walk and watched deer. We only stayed one night but wish that all our campgrounds could be like this one.

They are right on the Shoshone, definitely a great and five star experience. You can fish on the river if it’s not running too fast and there is a Trout pond you also can fish for free.
The RV sites are all pull-through and very nice grace ,but unfortunately can’t see the river from them. The showers and laundry are clean but laundry is limited. They have a coffee shack but not open. Lots of great birds of prey in the area. Close to Cody.
A hot tub and larger laundry would make this place perfect.
RangerVery nice little campground albeit a little pricey. If you are looking for a good base camp to go adventuring along the Beartooth Highway, this is a great option. Right along Beartooth Lake, vault toilets in each of the 3 loops and running water in Loop B. Loop C is set the farthest back and some of the sites aren't the most level. I opted for Loop B and it was quite pleasant. You have to get your payment envelope at Loop A. The road can be a bit rough. At $15 a night it seemed like a lot for what I needed. No service with Verizon. Great access to hiking trails.
RangerStaff was very friendly. Sites are gravel. Cute little coffee house. Laundry room was clean & spacious. Friendly horses as you enter. Nice size dog area, but beware of the attacking black birds!!!! We had Wi-Fi when we first checked in. Within a few minutes rain came through & we lost power. The Wi-Fi at the sites never came back on. We lost power twice while we were there. The local power company needs to trim some trees or update the grid. Close to a highway but pretty quiet. Nice little guns & ammo shop on site. Other than the power & wifi issue this is a great campground!!

LegendA local couple told me that we should check out this campground. They said to take your time and enjoy the Chief Joseph scenic highway drive with all of its overlooks. The scenery driving up out of Cody is unique and inspiring. We stopped halfway down the highway at Dead Indian Campground and enjoy the scenery from camp.
The campground is split on two sides of the creek. The host is on the Cody side along with 5 sites. The garbage bin is also over there. We chose to stay in site 10 which is one of the other 5 across the creek. You take the main highway over the creek and then into this area. This site is large and has a short trail that leads right to the creek. We enjoyed the short walk on the campground road the continues past our site. We found a clear view of the powerful creek and a beautiful skyline. One site is a secluded walk-in for tenters. There are clean vault toilets on each side. Bring in your own water or purify some from the creek. The vegetation is a bit tall in the sites on this side. Site 10 was great but the others looked less inviting.
There is a hiking trail just down the road in each direction. One leads into the canyon and the other into the meadows. The trail into the canyon is the route that Chief Joseph and the Nez Perce used to avoid a trap by the military. Just as we were about to hike the thunderstorm rolled in. Thus we can only say that the start of the trail was good especially with the history adding value.
This year it’s cool but the host said it’s normally hot. She said all the green grass is usually yellow.
This is a nice stop along a beautiful scenic drive. This is grizzly territory so take appropriate precautions.
ScoutWe loved everything about this campground. My 4 yo son loved the pool and the playground. My 12 daughter loved the WiFi and extra clean showers and bathrooms. The laundry room was immaculate. We also got some fancy rocks for a very low price. After a long drive, this was amazing to arrive at a well organized ground, very level with picnic tables and trees and calming surroundings.
