Reservations are available at this privately operated campground a few miles east of camping near Cody, where nightly rates run $46 to $135 depending on site type. The property has around 40 sites, most sized for larger rigs up to 60 feet, with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer. Access involves a rough road, so drivers should factor that in. The campground runs April 1 through September 30, and pets are allowed.
Sites are gravel and pull-through, with landscaping that provides some buffer between neighbors. Sightlines open toward the Shoshone National Forest mountains to the west and the Big Horns to the east. The campground sits far enough from town to reduce traffic noise and light pollution, making it a workable base for day trips to Shoshone National Park, Yellowstone, the Chief Joseph Highway, and the Beartooth. Tipi accommodations sit directly on the Shoshone River, where fishing is possible when water levels allow. A free trout pond is on site, though at least one visitor found it in poor condition during a summer visit.
Amenities include showers, a laundry room, WiFi (though outages during rain have been noted), a dump station, and a small playground. Birds of prey are regularly spotted in the area. Erin M. notes "lots of great birds of prey in the area," which several other reviewers echo. Cell coverage can be inconsistent. Campers wanting a more developed in-town setup might consider Cody KOA or the smaller Buffalo Jump RV Site to the southwest.

Located just five miles from Cody the Cody Trout Ranch Camp offers a truly unique vacation experience. Rent one of our 39 RV sites, spacious 20′ diameter tipis (8 that sleep 4-5) or sheep herder wagons (2 that sleep 2) on the picturesque Shoshone river or a tipi (2 that sleep 4-5) near our stocked trout pond. We offer picnic tables, two community campfire pits, clean laundry facilities, and clean bath/shower facilities. We are the perfect home base for exploring the historic town of Cody and we are only an hour away from the east entrance to the famed Yellowstone National Park. You’ll love sitting and relaxing by a nice fire underneath the beautiful starry sky and being lulled to sleep by the sound of the running river.
If you’re the adventuresome type, you can catch your own dinner. Our Tipi and Sheep Wagon camping guests may try their hand at fishing the river, on their own or with a guide and with a Wyoming fishing license. All of our guests may fish without a license in our stocked fishing pond! If you choose to keep your trout from the pond, guests must pay for the trout they keep, they start at $5 per fish. All equipment is provided for pond fishing, but if tipi guests want to fish the river, they will need their own gear. We are open from April through mid-October (depending on the weather). We are pet friendly. Whether you’re here for a few days or a few weeks, we’ll make your stay a memorable one.
