    Lost Lake Cabins

Cabins only at this location but just down the road is a campground

The road in to the cabin campground is beautiful. Tall trees stand guard as you enter an even more peaceful area than the forest you were driving through.

There is a communal parking area with a few of the cabins in sight. You can reserve the cabins individually or get several for your family or group. You can see some recreation areas near the parking area.

The Lost Lake Campground is just down the road. This has a larger beach and boat launch. The lake is perfect for fishing. There are also several short trails and longer ones nearby.

Drive a bit further than Lost Lake Campground to Chipmunk Rapids Campground. There you will find a wonderful artesian well where you can fill up on great drinking water.

    Pine Valley Lodge

Great view, Cabins run down and Beach was a mess

We have been coming here for a long time. It is under new management and we thought things would get better. While we were here other guests trashed the beach and had dogs running and using the bathroom throughout the campsite. The rules for dogs were to keep them on leashes and clean up after them. These rules were not being followed which caused the beach, in the past is lovely, but with the dogs using it as a bathroom the beach smelt like poop. Nobody in our week of staying cleaned up after them so we needed to go somewhere else to swim. If your place is pet friendly please make sure to keep up with your own rules. The cabins are run down but showers are hot and the utilities are still able to be used

    Peshtigo River Campground

Great for Families and a weekend getaway!

I grew up about 10 minutes away from this campground and it is still an awesome place to go when we are looking for a “staycation”!

It’s right by an elementary school so it’s a very safe area, across the road from an AMAZING playground that all ages will love, also about 50ft from a beach! The beach isn’t huge, and is open to the public so at times it gets crowded but is very safe and clean. The beach is on the peshtigo river and is great for kayaking, paddle boarding, boating, jet skiing, and tubing! There is a boat launch less than half a mile towards town on the river that is open to the public! Also includes a skatepark!

There also are two pavilions on parks grounds, both covered. One is smaller on the beach and includes grills and tables, and the other one has a stage on it for performances!

This campground is a mix between RV’s and tenting so you get the best of both worlds! Forget some necessities? No Worries! You’re a 10 minuet drive from Walmart and within walking distance of a cafe and gas stations! There are bathrooms, water hook ups, picnic tables, fire pits, and parking.

(I unfortunately do not have any recent pictures because I lost all of them but google really does a great job of showing what I’m talking about!)

    Pine Grove Campground

    Halloween starts early here!

This weekend there was a screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas (one of our favorites) and loads of cool decked out campsites. Only a few places with full hook up and ALL by the dump station. Nice amenities, lake, splash pads, mini golf, splash pad outdoor pool, golf car rentals, outdoor movies, a full size haunted house!

    Peshtigo River Campground

    Beautiful Spot on the RIver

A few years back, I was a briefly a white water rafting guide for a company that rode on both the Menominee and Peshtigo Rivers. This camp does a great job on their tubing and river-based activities. People come from far and wide to enjoy the camp's outdoor offerings. The campground has a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes it easy to stick around. The cabin are cozy and well furnished. I only regret that I hadn't visited sooner!

Diamond Lake Family Campground and Trout Farm

    Family Oriented, Family Operated

My friends and I love camping here because of the huge wooded sites, quiet family environment, and excellent service provided by Jen, Joe and their whole family. As a privately owned campground, they take their rules and security seriously to make sure their campground is safe, clean, fun, and quiet (during quiet hours). If you're looking for the party campground, this isn't it. If you're looking for lake fun (no boats) during the day and relaxing by the fire at night, this place is a must.

    Pine Grove Campground

    fun for groups

This was a fun place to go with a group of people. Even though there was a huge rainstorm before we got there and had standing water in our site, it drained quickly. They had a DJ there which was fun to listen to in the common area while with others.

The good: Lots for kids to do in their kid-friendly pool, arcade, park, and bounce house area that our group of kids loved. They offer golf carts to rent which is very nice (but a bit pricey)

The bad: I docked a star because It was loud which isn't the campgrounds fault until they don't do anything about it, which there wasn't. We had a great time with our group but were able to have fun while still being relatively quiet. There were 2 different groups around us that were loud into the early hours of the night.

Overall we had a great time with our group and as a whole really liked it. We would go back again. We could have just had bad luck on the weekend we went but would have liked to see some sort of authority there to keep a few groups contained a bit. Would go somewhere else if wanted a "Secluded" stay.

    West Bay Camping Resort

    Quiet woods

Located down a quiet paved road just 2 miles outside of town. You are close to the action but dont have to listen to it.

Some sites are tight/close and others you could turn around in. Most are fairly level or it doesnt take much to make your camper level. Very little grass at site but you get a picnik table and a fire pit. Wood must be bought at the store but pay attention to the hours as they close early. Plenty of mosquitoes but you are in the woods. Daytime they arent too bad.

    Bathrooms were very clean.

Full hookups, no wifi or at least we couldnt find it. Dogs are welcomed , no barking allowed. Cell phone service was good so you can work if you have too. AT&T and Verizon.

Passport America discount honored for 7 days and Coast to Coast.

Plenty of rules but we will have this on our return list.

Guide to Lakewood

Cabins near Lakewood, Wisconsin combine access to dense forests with proximity to lakes and rivers for water recreation. Most rental cabins in the area sit on wooded lots with varying levels of privacy between neighboring sites. The Nicolet National Forest surrounds much of the region, creating a backdrop for wildlife viewing and outdoor activities in all seasons.

What to do

Water recreation access: Chute Pond Park offers multiple water activities for cabin guests. "They have a little footbridge to fish off of, a playground, and a nice beach. You can rent out kayaks and little boats," notes Emily K. The park includes "slippery rock is a waterfall from the river that you can actually slide down," providing a natural water slide experience.

Explore hiking trails: Cabin rentals at Langlade County Veterans Memorial Park connect to extensive trail systems. "There are a bunch of trails right in and around the campground, as well as opportunities for canoeing on Game Lake (there is a canoe you can just use for free)," shares Jimmy P. The Ice Age Trail passes directly through the park, allowing cabin guests to access this 1,000-mile Wisconsin footpath.

River tubing excursions: Many cabin accommodations offer equipment rentals for river activities. Peshtigo River Campground provides tube rentals for $14 per person with bus shuttle service to drop-off points between 10am-3pm. "The river was nice! Low in some spots but we never had to get out and drag our stuff. Some trees to paddle around occasionally, but nothing out of the normal," reports Kelli V.

What campers like

Spacious, wooded sites: River Forest Campground cabins provide ample space between neighboring units. "It is not a normal campground, sites are very spaced out, group sites can accommodate up to 30 people per site," explains Amy A. The forest setting creates natural privacy barriers between accommodations.

Clean facilities: Many cabin properties maintain high standards for shared facilities. At Diamond Lake Family Campground, visitors appreciate the family-operated approach to maintenance. "My friends and I love camping here because of the huge wooded sites, quiet family environment, and excellent service provided by Jen, Joe and their whole family," explains Nathan C.F.

On-site convenience stores: Peshtigo River Campground and similar properties maintain well-stocked shops. A River Forest visitor notes they "have a convenience store that magically has anything anyone may ever forget for peace of mind that you won't have to leave your secluded nature sanctuary." This eliminates the need to break camp for basic supplies.

What you should know

Rental cabin variations: Accommodation types range from rustic to modern across properties. "The site is not close to the river and is very rustic. 45 US-Dollar the night includes electrical hook up. No water at the site," reports Ron G. about River Forest Campground. Research specific amenities before booking.

Seasonal considerations: Cabin rentals operate primarily from May through October. Langlade County Veterans Memorial Park runs "May 1 to December 1," offering extended fall access. Winter options exist but are limited, with some properties like Langlade hosting special cold-weather events: "Loved the whole experience, the cold, the snow, the hammock camping. Quite an event!" notes Charles M. about their "Frozen Butthang 2023" winter program.

Cabin amenities vary substantially: Electricity availability differs between properties. Some cabins include basic furnishings only, while others provide more comforts. "A simple camp setup is all I needed to enjoy my time here. The best feature here would likely be space to roam under the trees," explains David K. about his stay at Diamond Lake Family Campground.

Tips for camping with families

Water activities for children: Diamond Lake Family Campground offers family-friendly water features. "We don't have small kids but 2 of the couples we were with did and they had so much fun with the water chute and inflatables," reports Jennifer G. The swimming areas provide safe recreation without motorized boats.

Playground access: Many cabin properties include play structures. Langlade County Veterans Memorial Park provides "a nice beach area" along with a "playground, sand volleyball court," notes Nathan R. These facilities offer alternatives when children need a break from water activities.

Family-oriented atmosphere: Cabin properties often maintain strict noise policies. Diamond Lake enforces quiet hours, with a visitor explaining they "take their rules and security seriously to make sure their campground is safe, clean, fun, and quiet (during quiet hours). If you're looking for the party campground, this isn't it."

Tips from RVers

Site dimensions: Kosirs Rapid Rafts and Campground provides spacious sites that accommodate larger vehicles. "Camp reminds me of summer camp as a child. Unpaved path to the showers, beaten old boat shed, old camp busses, and so many friendly acquaintances," reports Erika, highlighting the property's rustic atmosphere.

Level parking areas: Cabin and RV sites at Peshtigo River offer well-prepared parking surfaces. "We thought we had a small site- until we got there. Site 86 is the smallest on the map but it is not small at all! We have a 33 1/2 ft 5th wheel and had plenty of space," notes Kelli V.

Electric hookup availability: Many properties offer cabins alongside RV sites with electric service. Chute Pond Park provides "reasonable rates, clean bathrooms and almost all sites are electric," according to Makenzie S. This allows families to choose between cabin rentals and bringing their own RV accommodations.
