Reservations are available at Fireside Campground in Lone Rock, Wisconsin, where the season runs from early April through late November. Sites are level, set in a mix of grass and sand with enough tree cover for shade but not so much that maneuvering a large rig becomes a problem. The campground accommodates RVs up to 60 feet and provides full hookups including electric, water, and sewer. Note that access involves a rough road, so drivers of low-clearance vehicles should plan accordingly.
The atmosphere here leans toward a family-oriented, community-minded setup. Staff escorts new arrivals to their sites, which reviewers found genuinely useful since electrical hookup boxes can be obscured by trees. Sites run close together and privacy is limited, a consistent note across multiple reviews. On the amenity side, the campground includes coin laundry, air-conditioned bathrooms with four showers, and a playground. Alison sums up the basics well: "Clean bathrooms and showers." Weekend activities such as charity bingo have been noted as a draw for those who enjoy a social camp atmosphere.
Fireside works well as a base for day trips into the surrounding area. Governor Dodge State Park, House on the Rock, and tubing on the Pine River are all within reasonable range. Campers wanting additional overnight options in the area can also look at Avoca Lakeside Park & Campground a few miles to the southwest. Pets are welcome, and Wi-Fi is available on-site. If the blend of full hookups, a social vibe, and regional access fits your itinerary, Fireside is worth a look.
