Beautiful falls

Campground up the road from the main day use area with the falls. Absolutely gorgeous. The walk to the falls is super easy and accessible. Other hikes around too. Campground is pretty basic but nice.

Great Campground!

I went on my first solo camping trip to Spruce Knob and had a wonderfully relaxing time. The camp sites were spacious enough and spread out well so I still had a certain level of privacy. Spruce Knob Lake was a great spot for Milky Way star gazing. On my way in, the road was a bit rough and smacked…

Family and Adult Group Friendly Campground in Beautiful Surroundings

I’m a full-time RVer, and I typically stay about a month at each campground. I was at five River Campground for the entire month of June, and it was great!!! The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. The electric, sewer, and water hook ups work well, and the RV sites are fairly level. Picture…

Beautiful and secluded

About 7+ miles in from the town of Durbin on a dirt road (not sure how that would go in an RV but easy in a small vehicle). Beautiful dispersed camping near a creek in dense, lush forest. Not much for views and only stayed one night so didn’t get to hike but it was a perfect, quiet spot for an…

Cabin 58

Swallow Falls has a great loop trail where you see four waterfalls. You can walk to the loop from the campground. It ma be adds a third of a mile to the hike.

We stayed in cabin 58, which has a short, easy path to the bathhouse and even shorter to the mud sink. This was very handy when…

Fun rustic campground

Stokesville campground is a little rough around the edges but offers access to lots of miles of trails in George Washington National Forest. There is an awesome swimming hole on the North River, Four miles of flow mountain bike trails inside the campground with endless miles of trails just…

Quiet, well maintained rustic campground

Admittedly, we had awful weather - it rained more than 50% of the time.  The weather ruled out our main purpose for being their which was astrophotography at Spruce Knob Lake and doing some hiking.   That said, we had a lovely walk-in site with a nicely situated tent pad, fire ring and large picnic…

Nice spot to camp on the river

Very nice campground with water and electric right on the river for $32, clean bathrooms and showers, and very nice owners. We stayed for one night but most of the others staying there had horses and were staying a while. The only slight negative is the town is closed down, so make sure you bring…

Great Place

Very nice place to camp. Our kids had a great time! The trail head is right in the campground so that made it extremely easy.

Great grounds

We camped here over Memorial Day weekend for a little getaway. We mainly came to fish—since this spot is an easy drive to Spruce Knob Lake. (Had a great time trout fishing!) Campgrounds were clean and well-maintained. Ample space, picnic table, fire pit, firewood available on site, solar-powered…

Hidden gem at Spruce Knob

This is a great spot for a large group. Very spacious with two vault toilets. We were able to find quite a few nice hammock spots in the trees if that's your preferred camping method. The ranger checked on us each day and took trash and resupplied toilet paper as needed. Will definitely go back.
