Natural Beauty

Sites are decent not great. Listening to the river was nice. Very quiet for my stay just the way I like it. Vault toilets are well ICK but it is what it is. Vicks under the nose for the win. Trail to falls is paved and shady. I'll be back with a better site in my sights next time. All sights are…

Pretty Waterfall

Pretty area! Just inside the NF. Never saw a single staff member while here. Fine by me! Next time I'll choose a better site. Mine was not the best. Not enough trees for my liking. All sites just have a little pull through a bit different for me. I did enjoy hearing the water very easily. Season is…

Great hidden gem

Went after labor day and the campground was mostly empty. Nice creek for a quick swim. Closes for season in mid Sept.

A gem on the Lewis River

This place is stunning! Drive up was really pretty and our campsite was great (#35, upper loop). Upper loop is where you want to book for sure — the sites are bigger and more dispersed. Easy access to the falls & trails. Lower falls is so beautiful and lots of space to post up for the day.…

First Shake Down Trip of the Season.

Close enough to home but far enough to be away. Great area close to another of trails. A little E close to very active train. Just make sure you look for a site away from track. Not a flat campground, electric bikes would be nice.

Powerful and Peaceful

Remote and beautiful. As the season winds down I had the most peaceful quiet stay. 80° days and chilly nights. Sites are huge w nice distance between. The falls can be heard from the entire lower loop. Everything is well maintained. All day use sites now require a parking reservation that your camp…

Decent NSF campground

Beautiful campground at the foot of Mount Rainier. Lots of great site options. Great tasting water and lots of restrooms. It is unfortunate that there aren’t any showers. There were also a lot of closed sites closed due to falling tree danger.

Beautiful spots

The clear lake nestled next to the campground is a nice addition with its trails and available activities. The sites have ample trees for people privacy and clean facilities

A very nice place to say for only $26 a night for full hook ups.

Our first time to Ainsworth state park. We found the(A) loop where we stayed very nice and sort of secluded with lots of trees even though you could slightly hear the HWY traffic and the occasional train without any horn. It was really not that noisy. The B loop is much closer to the noise and is…

So Crowded!

There are more “beach” spots than there were last year but still difficult to find a spot for the kids to play in the water. You have to get there early an setup you spot. There is a small area right past the boats that we found this year and really like because it’s so small that only we can fit.…

Swimming Hole!

Came here for one night, a quick one hour drive from Portland. When I arrived on a Sunday afternoon, the campground was mostly empty and the day use area was packed. Some sites are reservation and others are FCFS.  There's a great waterfall, swimming hole about a quarter mile walk from the…

easy to find camping

Finding a spot to camp on the road is pretty straightforward, it's right off the highway so you won't be able to miss it. There's plenty of sites, most of which were taken when we got there. It looks like the first few campsites on the road are the best-bigger space, more privacy, nice views.  As…

Beautiful views

Went with my boyfriend and his dad on the weekend. It was busy but still a nice walk. Not too long.
