Biking trails wind through the Gig Harbor area, and Sun Outdoors Gig Harbor puts campers within reach of the waterfront, nearby parks, and a Costco and Albertsons just up the road for resupply. The 132-site RV park sits close to town, and its mix of pull-through and back-in sites, some on concrete pads and others on level gravel, accommodates rigs up to 90 feet. A handful of tent sites occupy a grassy area beneath large trees that provide shade through most of the day.
Site spacing is the most consistent concern reviewers raise. Sites run close together, and separation varies considerably: some have trees or foliage between them, others have none. Lee D. notes that sites 65 and 51 stand out as the strongest options in the park. Despite the density, Joseph I. found the grounds "clean and well cared for" after nearly three weeks on site, and multiple reviewers describe the atmosphere as generally quiet, with the exception of nearby construction noise and, on at least one occasion, gunfire from an adjacent sportsman club in the late afternoon.
Amenities are a genuine strength here. The facility includes a well-equipped exercise room, a laundry room with an ironing board, a dog run, an exterior dog wash station, and full hookups with 30 and 50 amp electric service. Water pressure can be inconsistent on the uphill sites, and WiFi runs slow. Showers are functional and warm, though the stalls are on the smaller side. A dump station is available for an extra fee, and a $35 site-lock fee applies if you want to guarantee a specific spot.
Reservations are strongly recommended, particularly for longer stays. The park operates year-round, with nightly rates running $57 to $104 depending on site type and season. Staff have been consistently noted as responsive and accommodating, including a courtesy call on arrival day when the office is closed. Access to the park has been flagged as rough by some reviewers, so drivers of larger rigs should approach with care. Campers wanting a more rustic setting in the region might consider Kopachuck State Park to the southwest, though its camping has been closed since 2011, making Sun Outdoors one of the more practical options for places to camp near Gig Harbor.
