Hiking and biking trails branch out from Blue Lake Road, making this dispersed site along the Columbia River Gorge a useful base for day trips into the surrounding National Forest. The campground sits off a gravel road that narrows to roughly one and a half lanes with a moderate to steep grade and some potholes. Low-clearance vehicles and large trailers may struggle, particularly after rain or in icy conditions. A Ford Transit van handled it without issue, according to one visitor.
Campers have found wooded turnouts with fire pits and reasonable site spacing, and T-Mobile coverage has been confirmed at the location. Water access exists nearby, though getting close to the lake requires navigating steep rocks, and Jeffrey P. noted there was "nowhere near the lake to set up a camp." Reviewers have also flagged the presence of what appear to be long-term RV occupants on or near the site, which contributed to discomfort for at least two parties.
Across the river, Port of Cascade Locks Campground and Bridge of The Gods Motel Cabins & RV Park provide more structured alternatives for those wanting developed facilities. This spot works best for self-sufficient campers comfortable with variable conditions who are using the area as a staging point for National Forest trails rather than expecting a polished campground experience.
