Water access exists nearby, though getting close to the lake requires navigating steep rocks, and Jeffrey P. noted there was "nowhere near the lake to set up a camp." Didn't Feel Safe

Though very beautiful, as soon as I pulled up to this spot, I got a pit in my stomach. There are several permanent residents in cars, tents, and old rvs. I did not stay long as there were lots of gunshots as I was driving through the road. Maybe it is fine as a camp spot, but as a single girl staying in my car I did not feel good at all about this spot and ended up going to a different area after feeling the vibe.

Quiet spot on Forest road

We found a large turnout with a fire pit a little past the marker on Ash Lake Road. The only permanent appearing RVs we saw were on private land before you get to National Forest land and there were no gunshots, shouting, or disturbance as other reviewers encountered. The road becomes gravel 1 and 1/2 lane moderate to steep grade for a short while, with some potholes. Could be problematic with heavy rain, ice, snow, if you are underpowered or pulling a large trailer. Our Ford Transit van made it just fine. Decent T-Mobile coverage.

Sketchy Permanent Residents

As the other reviewer mentioned, there were some permanent campers at the spot. Living in an RV. Just felt super uneasy and the residents were shouting and whistling to others in the woods. Probably a fine spot, just didn’t feel comfortable in it.

No Access

After getting to near the marker, we quickly found out that this is not a good stay. Looked as if there were some permanent campers, gun shots were heard during the day and there was a posted government restricted area sign. If you want to get near the lake (if you want to call it that), you’d have to climb down some pretty steep rocks. Didn’t look like anywhere near the lake to set up a camp either

Good dispersed campsite!

I only spent a night since it was close to a hike I was doing in the morning, but it was a solid spot. A bunch of spots in the woods, lots seem to have privacy. The drive on the road is pretty steep for a moment, but my vehicle did just fine! I had service on my phone, which is ideal. I would stay again. No issues.
