Frequent Policing for Black People

I arrived at the location and, within 10 minutes, police officers showed up to monitor me, despite my behavior being no different from that of others around me. The next morning, I returned and, once again, within 10 minutes, the police were called to watch me. I plan to document these incidents and file a formal complaint, but I want to warn other Black individuals to exercise caution when visiting this place. I'm unsure whether the issue lies with the organization itself or if it's the Bethel campers falsely reporting my actions, but it’s striking that simply walking to decompress has led to repeated police presence. I plan to document each experience, timing my arrival and the police arrival and then look into why I believe I'm being racially profiled. While this isn't blatant racism, it sure aligns with interpersonal racism is much harder to detect if there isn't a pattern and you know how it operates.

Great for Families

We tent camped here over Labor Day weekend as our first family camping trip, and we all had such a good time! Our boys (8, 6, & 4) had so much fun on the big playground and paddle boating. Ask for Bill! He’s awesome and treats everyone like they’re special :)

The tent sites are clean, closely grouped, and the lights from the bathroom shine on them all night (so bring a sleep mask). But for $10/night with full bathrooms, sink to wash dishes in, and laundry? Worth the lights! Will definitely stay here again.

Temporary

It was quiet.

I don’t like that it’s not paved lots. Not very much around the location as well.

Great spot

Nice little place to camp. We went with tents. There was only 1 other couple in our area. We were able to bring our dog and our canoe. Everything was very clean.

Sitesite #3 , but #4 looks like a great spot

Wonderful campgroun

This campground is one of our favorites, Large sites that are easy to get in and out of. It each site has a grill, picnic table and a fire ring.  A couple of the sites have some drainage issues, but only after repeated heavy rains.

The best part is the big tall mature tree's, it's overall peaceful here, and we stayed every few weeks here one summer and it felt like home.  The office staff was friendly and helpful, keeping our names on a waitlist so we could come back and back, and it almost always worked out that we got a site for the week's that we needed.

There is a small playground in the campground area, but right next to the campground is a large play area that has a rock wall that our kids really loved playing at.  The only negative I could say is that there is also a large field for events and a paintball field, so the nice peaceful quiet area can end up being a bit loud and less peaceful on the weekends if there's an event scheduled.  But for the 5 or 6 weeks we spent there, there was only one weekend that anything occured (was a paintball event) and really was not horrible, but something to be aware of.

This is a military campground and you do need ID cards for access, Military Police do patrol the area and often set up an ID check point at the entrance.

Quick in town get away

Good little spot for last minute camping in town. There is a lake for fishing with boat rentals available. Not very quite as it’s located near a busy road. (Saunders road). You can hear cars ambulance etc. all night. You must reserve your spot in advance. RV, tent, hammock, and fire friendly.

Bery nice campground

Very nice campground, in a wooded area, by a lake/reservoir, has about 25 spots (FH), you can only book up to 90 days, and for a total of 180 days in a year. Quiet :)
