it seems to be a hotbed of white supremacy and racism. 

Actually, I found out the hard way that my friends from there, whom I once cherished, were racists, when an innocent black family tried to enjoy the pool on a quiet day. I still kick myself for not standing up to my friends and calling them out. I was beyond mortified, but I was also very young.

On a ride through there this past year, simply for nostalgia, I saw tons of evidence that not only have things not changed, but they seem to have gotten worse. I can't believe some folks are still trying to pass off Confederate flags as "heritage," when the Civil War lasted only four years.

Be like "Frozen," folks. Time to let it go. You lost. Get over it.

They can’t give you any information if you’re passing thru looking for a place to stay before your next stop.

River Ridge Golf and Campgrounds is a great camping spot. It is mostly deeded lots and for owners and family only. They do have a few lots for rent for RV’s, or camper trailers. 

There’s so much to do there. They have a store, a pool, golf and putt putt, a chapel and fishing pond. Everyone is respectful and friendly. 

This campground is open year round. They have some lots for sale. They are working hard to bring this campground up to today’s standards. 

It may not look like it, but this is a hidden gem.
