Fremont River Dispersed Site

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Sitting just outside Capitol Reef National Park, the Fremont River Dispersed Site puts campers directly along the bank of the Fremont River on free BLM land. Several short dirt roads branch off the main road, giving drivers a chance to find a workable pull-off even if the first one is taken. No reservations, no fees, no facilities.

The river is the defining feature here. Campers use it for fishing, swimming, and kayaking, and the sandy soil along the bank gives tent campers a reasonably comfortable surface to set up on. Some spots have informal rock fire rings left by previous visitors. Expect zero cell service. The sites sit close to the road, but trees along the bank can screen a campsite enough to feel removed from passing traffic, as Jensen S. notes: "for being right next to the road it was a pretty private spot."

Small trailers can fit into certain pull-offs, but reviewers caution against bringing a full-size RV. The access roads are narrow and the terrain does not favor large rigs. Fremont Granary Site sits just to the west and provides another dispersed option along the same stretch. Campers exploring campgrounds around Torrey will find this area useful as a staging point before or after time in Capitol Reef. Bring all water, food, and supplies before arriving, as there are no services on-site.

Peaceful little river right off the road

Several little roads dispersed all along this area so if you miss one just go to the next. Right along the little Fremont river but also right off the road. Zero cell service. Can pull a small trailer into certain areas of these camp sites but probably wouldn’t with an RV. Nice sandy area for my tent with a little fire ring someone had made with rocks. No other amenities.
