Shooting enthusiasts and road-trippers passing through Carbon County both use Bull Mesa Pullout, a free dispersed site on trust land outside Helper along a road that recent visitors describe as rough but manageable for adventure vans and RVs up to 35 feet with a confident driver. Trash and spent ammunition casings have been reported at the main pullout, though campers willing to continue down the road have found more sheltered spots tucked into the canyon with better wind protection and more privacy. Cell service is available, campfires and pets are allowed, and the site costs nothing. It makes the most sense for self-sufficient travelers who don't mind a rougher entry and are prepared to pack out what they bring in.
