Hunter Canyon Spring Camping Area

Hunter Canyon Spring Camping Area is located off a dirt road near Moab, Utah. The campground sits in Hunter Canyon, offering a more secluded experience than many of the busier camping areas closer to town. While the specific dirt road access may not see heavy traffic, it's still relatively accessible for most vehicles. The canyon setting provides a peaceful atmosphere away from the main tourist areas while still being within reasonable driving distance to Moab's amenities and attractions.

Hunter Canyon offers hiking opportunities directly from the campground area. The Hunter Canyon Trail is accessible from the camping area and leads through the canyon, providing a pleasant hiking experience with desert scenery typical of the Moab region. The trail follows alongside Hunter Creek when water is flowing, creating a unique desert riparian environment. While not as well-known as some of Moab's signature hikes, the Hunter Canyon Trail provides a more secluded experience with fewer crowds than the popular trails near Arches and Canyonlands National Parks.

Hunter Canyon Spring Camping Area was under development with plans to open in Spring 2022. Based on the initial construction, the campground appeared to be developing individual sites rather than designated group camping areas. The first completed site featured a picnic table and fire ring. For current information about group camping possibilities, it's best to check with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Moab Field Office, as they manage this area and would have the most up-to-date information on site configurations and group camping options.
