Whether your perfect afternoon is a nap in the shade, a deep forest walk, or a rejuvenating swim, you’ll find it here. And don’t be surprised to find an impromptu game of volleyball or a rousing horseshoe match going on among friends. Very friendly staff and residents. Mostly long-term residents. Nice facilities and pool. Privacy fence around lot and large shed to store in or use as an extra living space.
This is my husband and my favorite camp ground. Very quiet. Love that the public swimming hole and boat ramp are not inside the park. 2 Pull throughs right on the water. Lots of different spaces to choose from no matter yer your camping needs. Primitive, screened shelters, shelter with full hook-ups, and full hook-ups. Bathrooms are always clean and showers are private.
This is really now the Lufkin KOA Journey. I'll try to get the name changed for this listing. This RV park is one of the nicest we've seen. We arrived here on a Saturday and we plan to leave to go further south the following Saturday. The pads appear to be newly poured concrete. All very level. The hookups are in good working order. This is a very clean RV park.
These are full hook up sites only no tent sites
Very quiet despite mostly long terms, lots of rules that keeps the campground clean, neat, and orderly. Not a great place for pets, walking area is rather small. Small stocked pond, fish were biting! Spaces are extra long, however made for a 5th wheel. If in class A with a tow, will have to unhook if you don’t have 25-30 foot long hoses.
This is a quiet place. There's about 10 full hook up, level, pull through sites. Pretty surroundings. Kyle and Sarah keep it clean and family friendly. There's a laundry room. No Bathhouse. They're building a pond, which will be lovely once it's done in 2022. There are small houses nearby. Nice folks living in them. Kyle is really nice, not pushy with religion. Close to Center, Tx. I suggest Darrel's or Chaps for Bbq!
Nice campground with nice amenities, but i think it's really too geared towards RVs and daily use. I'd call it an RV park more than a campground
You have your standard sites, but they're all powered and hookups so whatever you get is going to have an RV near you.
There are your standard table and fire rings, but you also have decent bathrooms (with some vault toilets mixed in for surprises) and showers...
Great location if you want to use the boat ramps and head out onto the water.
Good experience overall. RV park has a pool, playground, driving range, laundry, hook ups, walking trails. Lots of ant piles thought. Laundry has 2 washers and 2 dryers. It is $2 for washer and free dryer. Nice store on site with ice, wood and misc. site 44 was pull this with view of the pond.
This is a tidy small RV park with trees (and FIREFLIES)! Easy in, easy out.
This RV Park no longer exists. I drove by and it appears to be gone due to new Interstate 69 Highway construction. The Google listing even reports it as permanently closed.
Ford Chapel is one of those places where you know things would go off the rails if it wasn't for management. Tim, the park manager, is incredible. The WIFI, bath house and laundry is great and the other guests are usually quiet and friendly. Also it's right down the road from the Love's Truck Stop.
Some Cons: Someone in the neighborhood likes to burn trash sometimes at night and it's fumes engulf the RV park.
There are only around 9 full hookup sites and they are very close together in the group camping section. Very little privacy. All waterfront sites are nice and big, but no utilities. One section of the campground has a lot of private RV sites but only water and electric. There are 3 restrooms but only one has shower facilities. The group camp restrooms do not have showers even though the campground map indicates showers.
The sites with utilities are paved, and most slope, so need those levelers. All sites have fire rings and covered picnic tables.
Beautiful lake views and a boat ramp. Good fishing from shore. Lots of woods and birds. We saw a couple of eagles.
There are only 43 sites at this park, but most have no hookups. Only 9 full hookups, which is what I prefer if staying more than a couple days. The FHU sites are really close together and not private at all. Our picnic table and fire ring were at our neighbors sewer connection. The water and electric sites are more spacious and private, but some were a long way from the restrooms. There are many beautiful sites at waterfront, but that is all dry camping.
The sites are all paved, and all seem pretty sloped, so make sure you have levelers. All picnic tables have shade covers, and most sites have good shade. The grounds are well kept and the park very quiet and tidy. If you like to fish, there are plenty of spots for shore fishing. There is also a boat ramp. The lake is clean and beautiful, also huge.
There is only one hiking trail, but it is not paved and seemed a bit overgrown so we did not hike it for fear of encountering a snake.
This is a nice park, but not a “do over” for us because of the lack of space and privacy at the full hookup sites. Also you can hear some road noise at times, which is really a distraction, especially if you are a person who enjoys the peacefulness of a nature setting.
The primitive camping here is located on a bluff overlooking the reservoir, which makes for amazing views. However, across the water is an RV park that plays music very loud music with a terrible D.J. and you can hear all day for 8 hours a day, which made our stay less than enjoyable. While this isn't the park's fault, it totally impacts the enjoyment of camping there.
I wish the park would move the primitive camping area to Hippie Hill where the glamping spots are located as that would make it more remote. The other thing is that RVers walk through the primitive camping site to look at the views, thus limiting privacy and the safety feeling with all these people tromping through your quiet area, with their dogs, etc.
This park seems like it would be more enjoyable for RVers and people that own their own boats, as there is a public boat launch and docks to tie up near the RV sites. If you're a tent camper, I would look for another park until RV island, the noise maker is dealt with.
We stayed at this park while we were in our home base area for 2 months. The rv park is very nice. The staff and owners are great. The park is well maintained and has beautiful views. The laundry room is small but clean. The park just opened a store on grounds and it has just about anything you may have forgotten while shopping in town. The park is not very far from the local town for dining out and shopping. The two popular lakes are not that far of a drive either. The park sometimes has events that are very nice and the park occupants are welcomed. They also have a golf driving range, pool, and game room. There is also several ponds in the park where you can fish are just sit on the bench and enjoy the quiet view. There is also a concrete walk way all around the park that is great for walking your pets or even just taking a stroll for yourself. We will stay here each time we are in the area.
Great views of the lake. Beautiful sunsets. Beach, playground, volleyball, cabins, pavilion, full hookups, multiple boat ramps, open water! We love camping here!
Lufkin, Texas, Take a look at the photos on Google maps. The worst part is the lack of road and site grading and drainage. Utilities are fine. Full hookups, laundry room, 1 shower, good wifi. Roads are mostly dirt. Pads are mostly dirt and ungraded some have gravel. Manager is trying to upgrade but it has a long way to go.Lots of potential here.
Great Rv camp ground friendly people
Thia camp ground is owned and managed by Texas Parks and Wildlife. It is well maintained and kept. The RV camp sites are plenty big and the tent sites are big enough to pitch the large multi person cabin tents. The fishing is a amazing and the store is cool.
Would of gave it 5 stars, did not have full hookup. Well maintained campground with cleaned restrooms and showers. Trails were all concrete. Lots of shade. They have a beach for swimming. Lots of fishing and kayaking. Nice place to go RVING.

We stayed at site #3, which was pretty much full sun. But, it was on the water with access to the water. Full hookups, concrete pads. Very clean, but dated restrooms. Laundry room was available. Boat launch, fishing, beautiful playground, gorgeous flower beds. No grocery on grounds. The grounds people were busy putting out Christmas decorations! Seems that they have a huge beautiful display every year.
Tere is a natural fed spring that is clear and beautiful. There's BBQ pit area and picnic tables. Cell Signal is almost non-existent. Sandy but still a lot of fun for the family.
There's RV camping and I believe tent camping also. We normally make a day trip as Its only a couple hours from home
The park was very well laid out. Roads seem to have been recently repaved as well as the RV spots. We arrived quite late and it was extremely difficult to find out spot because of the lack of lights. Bathrooms are okay, a little cramped but decently clean, no AC though. Bugs were a little bad in the evenings. The spot we stayed at had a beautiful view of the water and a lot of space. We were able to get 3-4 bars of service with Verizon and about 50-60 Mbps.
Went to Powell not knowing what to expect. The lake is beautiful, the camp grounds are spotless and the Staff is awesome. Great facilities whether tent camping, RV camping or staying in a cabin. Cabins are small and rustic as you would expect but very clean. What you’d want since you will be outside enjoying the great outdoors! Boat rentals, pontoons for larger groups, fishing, water sports, they have it all. Did I mention how awesome the staff is??? So accommodating and friendly. We will be back!

My family visited with my mother in law and my sister in law and her family. The managers acted like it was going to be a crazy busy weekend over Memorial Day. There’s 8 RVs here, and even the swimming hole has room for everyone, and then some.
The site is situated with a spring that opens up to swim in. The water is unnaturally blue, and truly looks dyed. It’s ice cold, though! Back in the woods where the water is running, it’s crystal clear and beautiful. The best part is the deer that will walk right up to you that you can hand feed. The flies are horrendous, and so are the ants. The bathhouse is exceptionally clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed utilizing this feature. Management is different. We’ve been micromanaged to death during our stay. We’ve been asked dozens of time what we’re doing, what are plans are, how long we’re staying etc…. We were even asked to help catch a cat that’s running around with a double eye infection, and possibly a case of mange. We affectionately refer to it as zombie cat. It’s very sweet, just needs some veterinary care.
Cell phone service here is almost non existent. We have sprint service and have one bar, if we are outside in certain areas. Would not recommend staying here if you work remotely.
Otherwise, it’s very quiet and peaceful. Very clean. White rock parking areas for pads, full hookups.
