Great campground.

This was our first time here at lake Somerville birch creek. It was a great one. We stayed in old hickory loop. Lots of trees and plenty of shade. Short trip from Houston so we will definitely be going back!

First day sad day

My first time there. I witnessed a young boy being pulled out by another young boy for drowning. Didn’t want my kids to see what was happening so I left. Would definitely camp there though.

Great biking!

This park is a great stop if you are on your way from Houston to Austin.  It's actually connected to Bastrop State Park by an 11 mile road that is mostly used for cycling.  And that's exactly what we did!  There was very little road traffic and the views were great!  There are also several scenic…

Nice park and well maintained trails

We stayed in Bastorp state park in our little teardrop trailer. The folks at the check-in point were very friendly and helpful. The campsite we had full hookups and was well shaded. We spent two days there and took several long hikes. We really enjoyed the changes in elevation, terrain and views.…

Noisy, Busy, High Traffic

Felt like i was camping on the infield of a racetrack surrounded by a promenade of cars/trucks playing loud music- will be hard-pressed to ever go back

Cheap for a reason

This place was terrible. We stayed for a month because of the cost but won’t return. The ants were constant, no matter how often I’d try to get rid of them. We also took our trailer in for maintenance or a few days and learned that the owner rented out our spot while we were gone. We paid in full…

Clean campgrounds

Campgrounds are far enough that you won't be bothered by noise. Park host maintain the restrooms and showers very clean. Good hiking trails with great views. Plenty of dumpsters to throw your trash bags. Each site comes with a picnic table, fire pit and an sand area to place your tent on so that…

So Peaceful...

This is the second time we have stayed here. This time was from Christmas Eve until the Sunday after. This place doesn’t disappoint. There are nice hiking trails. The lake views are beautiful. All the campsites appear to be very well kept. My husband went fishing for a bit. He didn’t catch…

Surprisingly quiet

The staff were super friendly, and extremely helpful. Our timing was not the best. Covid prevented us from using the facilities, road construction and park construction. No cable available during renovations. Pretty views of the Colorado river, however zero access to the river. The lack of…

One of our favorites in central Texas!

We live in Austin and this is truly our go to campground recently. Its so well kept, the campground layout is very clever. There's no bad sites! Nice privacy between sites. Some sites are on the lake with a little trail to access the water. There's so much do like hiking, biking, fishing, putt putt…

Easy access to the campground even during road construction

Management of campground very helpful in difficult times. We arrived during a utility upgrade so television was unavailable. Due to Covid restrictions the pool was by reservation only. The park is very pretty however only half of the campsites have shade and ours was unshaded at 90 plus degrees. …

Beautiful lake for fishing

Beautiful and calm lake. Great for fishing, kayaking and canoeing.  Only drawback is the bathroom can be cleaner and provide sink for washing
