We actually booked online a couple weeks in advance just in case and had no issue with the check in, we fished, swam and had a great time.... there weren’t a ton of people there and everyone was friendly The campground was close enough to the water to pull the kayaks across to
Lake mineral wells state park was great for biking, hiking, swimming and fishing. We had something fun for all 6 of us. My husband and I stayed in our tent, while rest of family stayed in their RV. It has been a very rainy month in Texas so some trails were closed. The camp store was awesome.we…

LMWSP has tons of activities for the family. You can spend the day exploring and climbing the rock formations, bring climbing gear if you plan to get to the top. You can also spend your day on the water, swimming on the beach, fishing from a pier or exploring the shoreline by kayak. Primitive,…
Not sure what was up, but this campsite is gated off and locked with no trace of anyone having been there for quite some time. Try at your own risk, just don't plan to stay here and roll in at 10 pm like we did.
We didn't actually camp here. We were camped nearby at Possum Kingdom State Park and came here to check things out. The sites were large, wooded with privacy. Lots of cool trails. Lots of birds around the lake.

We stayed here January 26 -31, 2021 on the first stop of a 3 month escape from Northern Wisconsin winter. I’m guessing it’s great when it’s warm and you have a boat. It was always windy. Concessions store closed for remodeling. Construction on cabin near our site. Nice bathrooms, shower water not…
We arrived around midnight. There was a warm breeze blowing. Big ants strolled nearby but are easily avoidable. The place is right on a lake. The restroom is close by. It was a great experience! Would stay again. We did not see any possums but did see a large female dear grazing.
plenty to do with the kids . place is very clean . bathrooms are nice . staff is great
Caution- Google Maps has no idea where the entrance to this campground is. Entry was very easy and the Ranger on duty was extremely helpful. There is lot's of space in Section 1 but through out the campground there are not very many full hookup sites.
Pros: Nice patio pads at most sites,…
I've camped at several Texas State Parks recently. They're very nice places to camp at. Restrooms are well kept. Some are free and can stay up to 14 days.
The roads to the area are paved and fairly decent, though the stretch on CR 2461 is quite narrow. Forrest Road 904, where the dispersed camping is located, is hard packed gravel and in fairly good shape. We parked our 36’ Class A on the side of FR 904, just inside the gate, unhooked our Cherokee…

First trip here last week, early April. Remote, quiet, simple beauty. Easy access, cool area. Worth checking out for a low profile weekender or hike.

Hard to say if RVs are really allowed here, bit we had no problem. A small class C or B would be no problem.
Super clean, nice wooded area and, of course, the lake--beautiful.
Only $17 a night for water and 30 amp hookups. No internet, and close to the highway so expect traffic noise. Verizon has decent coverage. There are some hiking trails and a bridge that would have been neat to explore, unfortunately we were rained out and didn't get the chance.
One of my favorite Texas state parks. Ve RT y nice campground on a lake. But do NOT miss the penitentary. Cliffs forming a prison below used during the civil war. Amazing rock structure with rock climbers.
