Fill up on drinks and snacks at the marina before renting one of the 24-foot pontoons and boating the day away. Or, bring your own boat to one of the marina's 56 slips and refuel. After a full day of boating, stretch your legs with a hike along Hugo Lake where you'll see countless species of birds along the winding trails. Benches are also scattered throughout the trails for your convenience.
Lodging includes both primitive and resort cabins, a hospitality house and tent camping. The 16 resort cabins have spacious living areas, two bedrooms with one queen-sized, two twin beds and a sleeper sofa, a full bathroom, and a full kitchen including coffee maker, microwave and service for eight. Enjoy the view from your deck or curl up in front of the fireplace while watching Dish Network TV.
The primitive cabins offer a choice of two twin beds or one queen bed, though linens are not supplied. Seven of the 10 cabins come with a full bath located inside the cabin, and a comfort station located within walking distance from the cabins offers hot showers and restroom facilities. Each primitive cabin comes with heating and air conditioning, as well as a screened in back porch to enjoy the surroundings. Pets are allowed in all cabins for an additional fee.
Camp along the water's edge at the park and awake to nature right at your front door. You might even catch a glimpse of the park's wildlife including squirrels, deer, raccoons and geese as you sip your morning coffee. Enjoy swimming or fishing in coves located on two sides of the camp. Each of the 10 campsites scattered throughout the park feature a grill and picnic table.
Kiamichi Park Campground is a large, grassy campground in a forested expanse of southeast Oklahoma. The camp is perched along the banks of Hugo Lake, providing guests with plenty of recreational opportunities.
There are always fish to be caught at Hugo Lake. From early sand bass and slab crappie to late season fall bass, anglers will always find opportunities. Hugo Lake also provides excellent catfishing during the summer. The lake area offers plenty of hunting opportunities, with over 25,000 acres of land available. Bow hunting is permitted in and around most of the park areas. Kiamichi Park features an archery practice range and a 3,000-acre Quality Deer Management Area. Wildlife around the lake includes waterfowl, bobwhite quail, dove, whitetail deer, mink, fox and beaver. This large park and it's miles of paved roads are ideal for biking, jogging, hiking, and sight-seeing. There are also wooded trails for exploring and horseback riding. Equestrian trail riding is accessible for dayriding from Bobcat Road or Raccoon Road. Equestrian camping is available on Raccoon Road, which offers thirteen horse stalls.
Hugo Lake dam is located on the Kiamichi River, 18 river miles upstream from its confluence with the Red River. The dam, completed in 1974, provides flood control, water supply and fish and wildlife management for nearby communities. It also provides a recreational oasis for outdoor enthusiasts of all types.

Really enjoyed the Acorn campground - south end of park. There are many to choose from in this large state park, but I would return here. Site was level with the usual amenities all in working order and not too close to neighbors. The river ran directly behind the site and I was entertained by an otter family and ducks daily. There is a water release siren that sounds occasionally and it is loud, but it doesn't happen frequently, or at night, at least not during my stay.
Enjoyed the hiking in this park. Lots of great cleared trails. Often times I was the only hiker. A real gem is the COE access road that runs along the river past the spillway. If you walk far enough down you can view the real "wild" river with the islands of cypress trees and boulders creating eddies and the relaxing sounds of the river spilling over and around. 10 out of 10 stars
No Verizon service except at the nature center (definitely worth a visit especially if you have kiddos, and the ranger here is fantastic!!). You can jump on their wifi, or if I walked to the pavilion behind the store I could get one bar on my phone. Note off season store hours in photo. Not much in the store. The BBQ at the Lookout restaurant is the draw.

We had had a blowout on our rv and needed to stay the night instead of finishing our travel they answered the phone on a Sunday which surprised me (I had call around) The lady at the desk was so helpful and informed us about discounts my husband was missing because of his service (National Guard Vet) which has been so greatly appreciated! The spot was unleveled but that’s no big deal if you have leveling blocks. Very beautiful and quiet when we visited in early August. The man in charge when we left was very helpful and mingled a moment with my husband before we headed home nice people and clean establishment definitely will be going back
TravelerBeautiful camping grounds!! Took my 6 year old daughter for her first camping trip and she loved it. The horses came into our camp and she was mesmerized by their size and beauty. Most amazing experience. She caught her 1st bass in the pond as well. The entire property is simply beautiful and I'd strongly recommend Dads to bring their girls and boys out to enjoy this amazing display of nature and wildlife.

Tented 2 nights. Spot A5. Spot was good. Right on the water. Could boat up if you wanted. Nice and shady, even good shade in the direct western sun. Beautiful sunsets! Hike right from camp.
Reason for only 4 stars: toilet pits and bathhouse needs a little TLC. It’s time to clean up the shorelines. And the site ground could use some grass. Tax dollars don’t really help so don’t forget to DONATE!
ScoutWild, yet docile horses will approach you. You can pet them and feed them by hand. Tall trees and gorgeous campsites. Donkeys hee-hawing, birds singing, and fire flies glowing. Scattered ponds throughout this 100 acre plot. Feel free to explore the nature or just chill at your campsite. Rick Parent, the friendly wolf-rescuing author and musician, will be your contact for your stay. He will have your spot mowed and ready before your arrival. He is kind, welcoming, and such a treat to visit with. There are minimal mosquitoes, so that was certainly a relief. You will be about 12 minutes away from the nearest Walmart, in case you forget some camping supplies. We had to go there to buy more carrots for the horses. (40 pounds of carrots). I highly recommend that everyone go check this place out! Share the energy of this beautiful land and always remember to pack out what you pack in.

Very very basic park. Sites are barely what you would call improved, all grass, maybe some gravel underneath. Fairly level. At least 8 of the 15 sites have permanent residents. Only one pull through with W/E only. Nothing but a small casino and subway within walking distance. I wouldn’t bother next time.

If you love getting the full effect of beautiful sunrises, sunsets, and stars - this may be the perfect spot for you to watch the skies! If you check dark-skies maps, you'll see that Clayton Lake is right on the edge of the section of SE Oklahoma with the least light-pollution. So if your favorite Southeast Oklahoma spot is booked, give this little hidden treasure a shot!
If you like foraging and looking for cold-season decomposers like I do, you'll find plenty of mushrooms and moss under the canopy.
There are plenty of cheap B&Bs in the area as well if you want a really secluded trip into the forest - definitely one of my favs!
GuideI stayed for four nights and really enjoyed it. The sites are large and fairly private. The restrooms could use some work but they do keep them clean. There are a lot of great hiking trails with wildlife including deer, coyotes, armadillos, and butterflies.
GuideThis is a nice campground with decently wooded sites. The site I sated had water, electric, a picnic table, a fire pit and a lantern post. There was a flat spot to set up my tent. The campground had decent star views and was a short walk to clean pit toilets. The showers were a short drive away and were also clean.

I’m an avid camper and hiker but when camping here alone at night (no one else was in the tent camping area), my camp site was accosted by a family of raccoons. They were not friendly and not scared of people at all. Be careful if you have young children. Aside from this, the lake was beautiful, peaceful and serene. Camp sites are unique and right on the water.

Stayed at the Buckeye Camp and couldn’t believe how incredible it was. The camp is listed as a “Premium Modern” because it was just recently upgraded with new pad sites, concrete tables, fire rings and new power poles offering 30/50amp along with upgraded sewer. Highly recommend! Not a bad site in the whole camp!
GuideStaff were amazing. So helpful and so friendly. The campground is a work in progress but they are doing a great job. The rv spots are shaded. Electric and water but no sewer if you’re close to the river which we were. The cabins are adorable and their general store was so cute! They have a community kitchen anyone can use! The river was low but very enjoyable. The only annoyance were the multitude of ATVs using the campground roads and the river bed instead of sticking to the ATV trails (and there are lots of them). Our particular neighbors didn’t acknowledge 11pm quiet time but everyone else did. Overall we will definitely be back soon!

We stayed here when picking up our new travel trailer from RV Wholesalers. The park is easy to get in and out of with nice sites and very nice pool. Hiking trails we did not have time to explore but maybe next time.
