Best RV Parks & Resorts near Pat Mayse Lake

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Pat Mayse Lake offers several RV campground options across its shoreline areas. Pat Mayse West provides water and electric hookups at most sites with spacious, well-shaded spots suitable for larger rigs. Hidden Grove RV Resort in Honey Grove features 143 sites with full hookups including 50-amp electric service, sewer, and water connections. "The spots are all paved with a nice sectioned off patio spot. There's no tree coverage really so the spots are pretty open but they have a fair amount of spacing in between each spot for some privacy," noted one camper. Sanders Cove Recreation Area includes RV-friendly sites with water and electric hookups, though not all sites accommodate larger motorhomes, and some areas show flood damage with uneven terrain.

Seasonal considerations affect availability throughout the region. During summer months, lakefront RV sites fill quickly, particularly on weekends. Most campgrounds around Pat Mayse Lake remain open year-round, though services may be limited in winter. Cell service varies significantly—Hidden Grove offers reliable connectivity while areas at Sanders Cove and Pat Mayse West have spotty coverage. Dump stations are available at Pat Mayse West and Sanders Cove near the park exits. Pet policies generally allow dogs with standard leash requirements. The approach roads to most campgrounds accommodate big rigs, though some interior roads at Pat Mayse West have low-hanging branches that may scratch RVs, and several reviews mention the need for leveling blocks on certain sites.

    Little River Park

    Nice park

We stayed in G4 in a 42 ft fifth wheel. Sat worked great as there are no trees blocking Dish. T Mobile was 5 bars 4g lte. Sites have 30 amp, picnic table, fish cleaning table and water. Make sure you come with lots of water hose, i needed about 60 feet. Our site backs in sideways and offers a fantastic view from the inside. There is a dump station on the way out that is too tight for my rig. I will dump my gray/black somewhere else. The are a few full hookups with 30/50 amps in H section at the top of the hill. There are some 50 amp on the lake in section H but they do not have sewer. All sites are by reservation only at this time. The sites are mostly level but vary greatly once away fron the pad, it is a lake so expect some hills.

    Hugo Lake Park

    Quiet COE Campground

We stayed in site J9. All sites are near the water. Clean, level concrete pads with water and 50 & 30 amp electricity. No sewer. There is a dump station at the entrance station. No wifi. We had weak, but useable, cell connection with T-Mobile.

    Bois D' Arc Trailhead Campground

    Numerous Sites!

This is a review of scouting the area. Numerous sites to choose from, some pull thru, some back in. Water, tables, and fire pits at every site. Although the sites are close together there is plenty of space to spread out depending on how busy it is. Heavily shaded. Not sure how effective solar charging would be during summer months. We first scouted it on a Thursday, nobody was there. Pulled thru again a few days later and there were a number of hunters there. Plenty of space for big rigs. Pit toilets on sites, no trash. Would have stayed here, but opted for West Lake Crockett down the road due to stronger cell signal.

    Pine Creek Cove

    Very quite and peaceful park

This campground has a great small lake. Right now parts of the park is flooded due to so much rain. There are no site with sewer. The do have sites with 30 amp and 50 amp and water. The concert pads in loop O are very level. Loop N has asphalt pads they are very level as well. Loop N the sites are more narrow. The park was very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Make sure to bring everything with you because the closest store is about 10 miles. The cell service was ok for ATT, had a hard time picking up Wi-Fi with hot spot. If you are looking for a place to camp that is super quiet and peaceful this is the place to go!

    McGee Creek State Park Campground

    Great outdoors

There are two campgrounds with RV sites, this review is for Buster. All rv sites are water and electric  no sewer but there is a dump on the way out of the campground. There are only 2 sites with 50 amp, the other sites are 30 amp. Okla jumped the price up but have done nothing to improve the sites or add more 50 amps. Cell service is almost non existant (T Mobile). Trees need to be trimed from the road, you will get your rig scratched. The lake is buetiful and not heavily used except by fishermen.

Acorn Campground — Beavers Bend State Park

    BEAUTIFUL

Beautiful park!! Numerous hiking trails. A beautiful river for kayaking and fishing. Our site is concrete and level. Fire pit and picnic table on site. Shady, waterfront, large site. Water and electricity only, dump station available. Showers and restrooms were a short walk, clean but dated.

Bright Star Campground — Cooper Lake State Park South Sulphur Unit

Nice, very quiet, heavily wooded CG

We have a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow and stayed in site 25 for 1 night in early September. The CG is clean, well maintained. The CG roads are paved, as are the sites. The site pads themselves are concrete and most looked to be fairly level, but a few had a bit of slope. Most of the sites were fairly well spaced. The CG, at least on Sunday evening, was very quiet and peaceful. There were only 2 other campers while we were there, one of them the Park Host. Our site, 25, was a pull-through, but the center of it had about 4 inches of mud from a recent rain, otherwise it would just be 4 inches of dirt. A few of the back-in sites had similar situations at the junction with the road.

AT&T coverage was pitiful, with only 1 bar of LTE service and speeds up to 0.1 MB/s. We had a clear view to the N from the side of the site, so Starlink was fine with speeds up to 16 MB/s.

Acorn Campground — Beavers Bend State Park

    Oklahoma hidden oasis

Beavers Bend State Park is a incredible beautiful state park hidden in the southeastern corner of the state. We planned our trip and reservation process on the TravelOK.com website which I highly recommend reserving in advance because this place fills up fast. We ended up reserving a premium RV site 5 in Acorn and our 5th wheel fit perfect. This site is a back in site with the river directly behind the site. Site consists of 1 fire pit, 1 picnic table and barbecue pit. The hookups consist of water and 30/50 amp electric. The road is on a one way loop with shower, bathroom and trash containers within walking distance. Trails are also within close proximity and vary in elevation be prepared and bring water and pick up a map from the ranger station. With that said the place is green for a reason and very humid during the warmer months but if you want to cool off check out the swimming area or rent a Kayak or paddle boat. We were told that the most popular time to visit is during the fall due to the color change just remember reserve ahead time and happy camping!

Enjoyed our stay at Shady Oaks! Friendly staff, a playground for the kids, right across the highway from the lake, and a family friendly bar and grill located right at the campground. We will be back!

Guide to Pat Mayse Lake

Pat Mayse Lake offers camping options beyond the main RV campgrounds, with several established parks within a 30-mile radius. The lake spans approximately 5,993 acres with 62 miles of shoreline near Paris, Texas. Fall and spring provide moderate temperatures between 60-75°F, creating optimal camping conditions when water levels remain consistent.

What to do

Hiking trails: Hidden Grove RV Resort features two different walking paths including a 3-mile trail around the property. "This place is awesome, quiet, they have two different trails to walk on. The RV spaces are further apart than your average RV park," notes General M., who appreciated the peaceful setting at Hidden Grove RV Resort.

Fishing access: Bois D'Ark RV Park provides convenient access to multiple fishing destinations. "Bonham lake is about 2 miles away and the new Texas lake Bois d'ark is about 5 miles away. The lake should be open by March of 2022," shares Tammie L. from her stay at Bois D'Ark RV Park.

Water recreation: Within driving distance, McGee Creek State Park offers additional water activities. "McGee Creek is a beautiful state park with boating, fishing, hiking, etc. Downtown Atoka is an up and coming little town that has been revitalized," explains Jimmy K., describing options near Lane RV Park.

What campers like

Spacious sites: RV spaces at many parks provide adequate separation between campers. "You can tell this is a good place to stay as soon as you pull in the drive. Great roads, very large sites, your choice pull in paved or gravel, back in or lake side. All spots have a paved patio," reports Debbie M. about Shady Oaks RV Resort.

Accessible amenities: Many parks offer convenient services within walking distance. "Enjoyed our stay at Shady Oaks! Friendly staff, a playground for the kids, right across the highway from the lake, and a family friendly bar and grill located right at the campground," explains Rodney T.

Pool facilities: Some RV parks include swimming pools for campers. "The park is easy to get in and out of with nice sites and very nice pool. Hiking trails we did not have time to explore but maybe next time," mentions Veronica R. about her stay at Hidden Grove RV Resort.

What you should know

Road noise considerations: Some campgrounds experience traffic sound due to proximity to highways. "Great location to stay if you are visiting the area of Bonham Tx or just passing thru for the night. Lot of road noise. Also be sure to have a long sewer hose," warns Tammie L. from Bois D'Ark RV Park.

Variable site quality: Site conditions vary significantly between campgrounds and even within the same park. "Very very basic park. Sites are barely what you would call improved, all grass, maybe some gravel underneath. Fairly level. At least 8 of the 15 sites have permanent residents," reports Lenny M. about Broken Bow Inn & RV Park.

Limited shade coverage: Many RV sites lack substantial tree coverage. "There's no tree coverage really so the spots are pretty open but they have a fair amount of spacing in between each spot for some privacy," notes Tris W. about the layout at Hidden Grove.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Select campgrounds include dedicated play areas for children. "Enjoyed our stay at Shady Oaks! Friendly staff, a playground for the kids, right across the highway from the lake," mentions Rodney T.

Nearby provisions: Grocery stores and supply points often exist near camping areas. "It's located in town, so there is quick and easy access to provisions if you need anything," explains Gari-Ann L. about Antlers RV Park, noting its convenience for families needing supplies.

Room for outdoor activities: Some sites provide adequate space behind RV pads for family games and gatherings. "Nice level lots with plenty of room behind to set up tables and games. Clean. Highway noise is a little loud but it does die down at night so no problem sleeping," shares Brenda A. from her experience at Creekside RV Park.

Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: Be prepared with leveling equipment at many area campgrounds. "Sites are barely what you would call improved, all grass, maybe some gravel underneath. Fairly level," notes Lenny M.

Sewer hose length: Standard sewer hoses may not reach connections at some sites. "Also be sure to have a long sewer hose," advises Tammie L. about setup requirements at Bois D'Ark RV Park.

Pull-through availability: Limited pull-through sites exist at some parks. "Only one pull through with W/E only. Nothing but a small casino and subway within walking distance," mentions Lenny M. about the options at Broken Bow Inn & RV Park.
