Not impressed but close to the state park

We are in site 6 with one fifth wheel and one tent. They have cute tiny houses, and a couple of couples are over there. Since there were no reservations available at Palo Duro State park, we wanted a place at least close which it is for sure...immediately outside the entrance. Grass not mown. …

Great place

This place has many leveled sites and plenty of amenities. Our family enjoyed the stay here. Our pull through site was paved with a picnic table. There is an area for dogs and a park for kids, both things we enjoyed. We all liked that it was minutes from Cadillac Ranch, which was also fun! Would…

Great Overnight Stop

This is a great campground with pull through and back in sites. It's not the most luxurious campground, but good enough for an overnight. The staff is prompt and courteous. Easy access to I40 and Amarillo.

Tent site on rim

Check with park before booking. Park was closed due to a marathon inside the gate (my fault for not checking), but I could walk the zip line road at the campground for great views and the horse rides just down the road provided a cool experience. Sites are just open lawn type. Get there early if…

It’s okay

This was a one night stop for us. Which this seems like a decent one nighter park, wouldn’t stay longer than that.

Pros: -Concrete (level) Pads -Full Hook ups -Easy access from interstate

Cons: -It’s like a parking lot -Bathrooms/trash/dog park are all a really long walk unless you happen to be…

Ver nice!

The lots are nice and long. There are extra parking pads. The pads are gravel. You can use your outdoor mats. The bathhouse and laundry are super clean! I have no complaints!

Black Canyon Campground, Santa Fe, NM

Beautiful campground. Sites well spaced with lots of trees separating the sites for privacy. Gorgeous hiking trail loop through the mountainside. Love this campground.

Gorgeous Canyon

Several different campgrounds in the park. Lots of RV spots and many separate sites for tents. They even have a few rustic cabins for rent. Stayed at Hackberry campground. We went last year during COVID and many RV spaces were closed, I don’t know why because they were well spaced. Hackberry…

Awesome

We will be returning to this camp ground. Words can't describe the beauty of this place. Most of the park was closed due to hunting season so we couldn't tour it all, plus didn't have time to. Do we will be returning to this camp and spending a few days.

When Palo Duro Canyon Campground is Full....

On the rim of Palo Duro State Park, lies a roadside attraction with Zipline tours, cute tiny cabins for rent and a small campground. Offering approximately 30 full-hook sites, and a dozen or so primitive areas to set up camp for cheap. Since we bring our own electricity via a solar panel, we have…

  • Sites are simple and many of the picnic tables are broken, but it's cheap and very close to the canyon. We grabbed a $15 tent site because we come equipped with our own solar electricity. They don't allow gas generators.
  • They offer zipline tours over a portion of the canyon, just outside the state park. Wasn't open when we were there, but looked exciting!
  • RV sites are in the middle, tent camping around the edges.

Nice Reliable Campground

Our Second Stay here.   Passing thru both times.   Sites are large FHU, pull-through.   Propane, a small food service, nearby Diesel and convenience stores - right along Route 66.

Very clean, very accommodating facility.  Good dog area.  Super clean.

Comfortable safe overnight stop

We went in the winter so can’t comment on the pools or anything like that. But it was fine for a quick overnight stop. We got a AAA discount which was nice. Checked in late which was no problem at all and the staff was accommodating. It did smell a bit like cows so I guess there’s probably a feed…
