Greatest Place to Stay

I absolutely love going here to camp! There's like never anyone, there, so it's always quiet and we don't have to worry about people starting crap for no reason

No towels in the restrooms, flies were everywhere.

We read that there were big trees for shade, and the pool was open 24 hours/day. It sounded lovely. When we arrived we were given a site where you could see the trees, but none nearby for shade. The neighbors had "acquired" the picnic table for our site. They had a tire and other junk stacked…

Friendly people

We actually booked online a couple weeks in advance just in case and had no issue with the check in, we fished, swam and had a great time.... there weren’t a ton of people there and everyone was friendly The campground was close enough to the water to pull the kayaks across to

Chisholm Trail Ridge Campground

This is a very nice C.O.E. campground. 95 improved camping spots. About half of them back up to Haurika Reservoir. All sites have either 30 or 50 amp service. Water is only on designated sites so be diligent when searching for a site. The park itself is as old as the lake. Bathrooms are old and…

Closed?

Not sure what was up, but this campsite is gated off and locked with no trace of anyone having been there for quite some time. Try at your own risk, just don't plan to stay here and roll in at 10 pm like we did.

Google Maps needs Help

Caution- Google Maps has no idea where the entrance to this campground is. Entry was very easy and the Ranger on duty was extremely helpful. There is lot's of space in Section 1 but through out the campground there are not very many full hookup sites.

Pros: Nice patio pads at most sites,…

This is a fairly remote area of north-central Texas

The roads to the area are paved and fairly decent, though the stretch on CR 2461 is quite narrow. Forrest Road 904, where the dispersed camping is located, is hard packed gravel and in fairly good shape. We parked our 36’ Class A on the side of FR 904, just inside the gate, unhooked our Cherokee…

simple beauty

First trip here last week, early April. Remote, quiet, simple beauty. Easy access, cool area. Worth checking out for a low profile weekender or hike.

Good for the price

Only $17 a night for water and 30 amp hookups. No internet, and close to the highway so expect traffic noise. Verizon has decent coverage. There are some hiking trails and a bridge that would have been neat to explore, unfortunately we were rained out and didn't get the chance.

Equestrian camp small but good location near fort

We stayed one night at the equestrian camp on our way through the area. We prefer leaving the equestrian spots for horse owners but it was the last one available in the park. Although, of the 5 sites in this loop, none of us had horses!

With only a couple of small pens and not much space, we…

Last minute Lifesaver

We happened to be driving to texas the same time as the polar vortex. Needing a spot with electricity last minute to warm up for the night, this KOA was available and everyone was so helpful. Our pipes in the van froze on the road and people talked us through what to do and even gave us…

Looks like fun in the summer

We arrived late  December and it was chilly. Sites with full hook up are limited, but even with annuals are still possible. One thing though, we found a great site (124 ) very close to the water which is a plus for us as my wife is disabled and needs a walker so if the water is too far it becomes…

Ok for a Short Visit

We stayed overnight here but wouldn't plan on longer just for the fact that there's not much room. The site is small, maybe 20 or so campsites right next to each other all on gravel. Pretty clean, though the feral cats are abundant. Very nice staff and reasonable prices in the store, and though…
