## Overview

Boles Field is located in the northern portion of Sabine National Forest in eastern Texas, near the border of Louisiana. The area centers around a cemetery for fox hounds established at the turn of the century, and some of the world's most well-known hunting dogs are buried here. 

## Recreation

With the Toledo Bend Reservoir just six miles miles away, Boles Field offers an opportunity to visit one of the nation's most regarded freshwater fishing sites. The National Forests and Grasslands in Texas provide excellent opportunities for bird watching and wildlife viewing. East Texas lies in the path of warblers, vireos and other species of neotropical migrants, and birders look forward to the spring migration. 

## Facilities

Uniquely developed for large gatherings, Boles Field has an amphitheater which holds approximately 100 people and group shelter that accommodate family events. Both are for day-use only.   
  
Campsites are first-come, first-served and equipped with water and electric hookups. Horses are allowed in the campground.

## Natural Features

The campground sits in a pine and hardwood forest near the Toledo Bend Reservoirs, two large east Texas lakes. Wildlife is abundant, and the area is a hot spot for migratory birds.

Ragtown is located on the Texas shore of Toledo Bend Reservoir and is maintained and operated by the Sabine River Authority of Texas. Completed in 1975, this area is nestled high on a bluff and offers spectacular views of the water. The boat ramp allows access to the lake most of the year. Trailhead sign for Mother Nature’s Trail on the Sabine National Forest. Visitors can hike along 1-mile long Mother Nature's Trail winding past magnificent oak and beech trees along the lakeshore. Forest visitors can now camp up to 28 days at selected recreation areas in the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas. San Miguel Park - SRA

Located on Toledo Bend Reservoir, one of the country's largest man-made reservoirs, North Toledo Bend State Park provides a venue for a wide variety of water-related activities in a pleasant environment. And for land-based activities, more than 900 acres are available for camping, picnicking, hiking, and relaxing in the heart of nature. Available day-use facilities include a meeting room which can be reserved for group functions, a full size swimming pool with restrooms for the summer season, and a laundry with all the conveniences for a long or short stay in the park. Nearby are entrances to two hiking/biking trails - a 1.5-mile loop and a more demanding 4-mile loop. A boat launch with a double ramp, a large parking lot, boat rentals, and a fish cleaning station, provides access to the reservoir. Organizations associated with the Toledo Bend Reservoir host numerous freshwater fishing competitions which attract fishermen from around the country. Fishing, swimming, boating, hiking, picnicking, and relaxing – all of these activities and more are yours to enjoy at North Toledo Bend State Park.

## Overview

San Augustine Park is set along the Ayish Bayou tributary on the shores of Sam Rayburn Reservoir.   
  
In spring, take advantage of excellent birding opportunities as neotropical birds like warblers and vireos pass through the lake en route to the Gulf of Mexico.

## Recreation

The lake is a highly popular destination for boating and fishing. Game fish include largemouth bass, bluegill and channel catfish, but it is the abundance of bass, which inspires more than 500 annual tournaments.

## Facilities

San Augustine features 100 sites with electric and water hook-ups. Among the many amenities are a group shelter, swimming beach, volleyball, boat ramp and an interpretive trail.

## Natural Features

With more than 114,000 surface acres, Sam Rayburn is the largest man-made lake that is completely within the boundaries of the state of Texas. The reservoir is fed by the Angelina River, a major tributary of the Neches River.   
  
The piney woods region boasts native flora like orchids, insect-eating plants and scores of animal species.

## Overview

Mill Creek Park is a large, comfortable campground on the Sam Rayburn Reservoir, also known as Lake Sam Rayburn, tucked in the piney woods of southeast Texas. The lake and the surrounding Angelina National Forest, provide a welcoming home for bald eagles in winter. The rare red-cockaded woodpecker also resides in the forest here.

## Recreation

Fishing at the reservoir is wildly popular, with frequent fishing tournaments. Catches include largemouth bass, crappie and catfish.   
  
Birding is also big, with chances to see warblers, vireos and other migratory songbirds. A resident population of wood ducks remains in the forest throughout the year.

## Facilities

The park features 110 campsites with water and electric hookups. There's also a group shelter, boat ramp, designated swimming beach, a playground, and volleyball court for family entertainment.
