Nice 2day visit

Came across a 2020 review of this campground. Update: There is a pool and lazy river now! Stayed here two nights with my sister and husband, 6/19 &20/2023. This is RV and cabin stays only. We used the showers in the pavillion. They are private showers and toilet rooms that has a lock on each door plus the outside access doors arecode locked. You get codes upon arrival. They have activites through the week. A food shack. The road is paved. A gated pet area. Garbage pick up before 2pm. Close to Pigeon Forge strip.

Kind of tight maneuvering through campground. Fairly level sites

Road noise until late evening, then the next door campers kids started wining and stomping through there trailer. Then in the morning around 7:00 am they started playing music pretty loud. Only reason we stayed here was our normal campground across the road was full. Only the first day, will see how rest of our stay goes.

Family friendly, creek side sites, close to all activities

We loved it here! It was a bit of a tight squeeze with our RV, but we fit and even vacationed with another RV family at the site next to us. We were able to reserve sites in advance and get firewood each night. The campfires were nice, but sometimes the firepits are on a hill so seating is hard. Our kids met friends and played until the night! We were close to all of the gatlinburg and pigeon forge activities as well as the smokey mountain national park. Highly recommend cades cove! So pretty!

Small but conveniently located

Note: Some of the previous reviews of this campground are clearly for a different campground. Walden's Creek Campground has no pool, lazy river, activity center or camp store.

The campground is as described in the listing: A small, family-built and family-run campground. It's well maintained. Our site was tight for our big rig, but level.

Walden's Creek is a decent place to stay if you're visiting Pigeon Forge. It's near enough to the grocery store or The Island to walk or bike and avoid the awful traffic along the main drag.

There's an abandoned bridge just outside the campground fence. It lets out onto a street that borders a school complex. Take a left and go around the school, and the road will dead end at a small bridge that will put you on the bike/walking path system.

You can get to The Island via the path. Mostly The Island was not our kind of thing, but the fact that Yee Haw Brewing has a taproom there, and that we could bike to it, made it a worthwhile destination.

It seemed nice to have the option of taking a trolley to get around, but I gave up on it after only a couple of rides. The trolleys aren't on a set schedule – they simply run their routes and get there when they get there. To get anywhere along the main drag you'll need to first wait for the trolley that services Walden's Creek, which may be up to 45 minutes, then take it to the main line and wait there up to 20 minutes.

Since you're waiting out in the elements (Pigeon Forge summers are brutally humid and hot) and still dealing with traffic, the trolley is probably not your best option if you have a bike or car. But if you do decide to try it, the stop is literally right in front of the campground.

Finally, with no playground or pool, this campground is not the best place for longer term stays with kids unless you plan to use it as a launching pad for activities elsewhere.

Small and clean

We stayed for 2 days. The sites were small. Restrooms were closed due to Corona (not the fault of the park), however we were able to use laundry facilities. Small fenced area for doggies, which was nice.

The website stated creek swimming. I was sad that there was not a dock (or deck) or steps to get down to the creek and no sitting area at the creek.

Trolley stop to go into Pigeon Forge is right outside of the park. We couldn’t participate in trolley due to the fact they don’t allow dogs. But thought that was convenient spot for trolley. Maybe next time we will be able to try trolley out!

Great Family Campground Near the Island

Sites are gravel so they are not perfectly level. RV sites have a concrete pad and a fire ring and most have a picnic table. Bath houses are nice and kept clean. Best price in the area hands down. The camp store is connected to a convenience store and gas station. Fast food close by, and cheap propane fill ups just down the street. We've stayed here a couple of times and will be back. Some sites are not very long and some are not very wide. We usually stay close to the rear of the park - a lot quieter. Very friendly staff!
