The Pin Oak campground has 77 sites, 2 bathhouses, 50 amp electric, sewer and water hookups. The campground is located on the shore of Pin Oak Lake and can accommodate RVs up to 80 feet in length. The RV camp also offers a swimming beach, playground, picnic shelter, camping cabins and boat dock. While this campground is open year-round, some campsites close after December 1. Campers should be aware that there is very limited, if any, cell service available in the Pin Oak campground area.
About two hours west of Nashville and East of Memphis, you’ll find 48,000 acres of rustic wilderness and 32 lakeside cabins at Natchez Trace State Park. The cabins are situated near Pin Oak Lake and Brown’s Creek Lake. Cabin guests can enjoy a multitude of trails through the forest and fields and along the lakeshores and streams of Natchez Park. The park offers activities for cabin visitors of all ages such as swimming, boating, biking, fishing, and horseback riding. Hunting and ATV riding is accessible nearby on WMA land. A nice campground with blacktop sites. Campground is hilly but most sites are fairly flat. Very nice hot showers. They also have tent camping, cabins, and camping with your horse. Small lake within walking distance to the RV campground. Camp store, gym, small amphitheater. Wifi was a free signup for 3 days but was too slow to be useful.

This campground has become our favorite. The campground is amazing, the bathrooms are cleaned everyday on weekends and every other day during the week. Completely cleaned!
The site has 77 sites full hook-up with sewage. Every site has grill, fire pit, table and lantern hook. We were #38 it was easy to back into and pretty level. The campground also have small cabins with bunk beds to rent. There is no indoor water just beds, electric and air for a great price. There is a small swimming area too at Pin Oak.
There are a few lakes in the area. Pin Oak is the only motor lake. Cub lake has a larger swim area with paddle boat, Jon boat and kayak rentals. The rentals are only weekends. Browns Creek Lake also has honest system rentals of Jon boat but for fishing purposes only and you have to pay for a lake permit.
The park is great! Lexington is close for quick runs for anything you need. We loved this park so much we may be changing our family BBQ to this park next year.

GuideIt wasn’t far from the water, but the sites were pretty small, the grill was in the center which made it difficult to place tents safely, and was the site itself was also on a slight grade.
Word to the wise, do NOT purchase their firewood! No amount of lighter fluid, hell fire, or lava could get it to catch. It would only char. However, if you can find some sourgum wood laying around in the surrounding woods like we did, it will give the most entrancing fire you’ll ever see with ember that look like dancing glass.
Bathhouse was heated and cleaned regularly. Very nice!
Awesome bridge going over water that leads over to the cabin side of the park. The bridge had benches and covered shade to rest along the way which was really cool.
Small park in the tent campground that really needs updating, but the one on the cabin side (other side of bridge), was really big and nice. The kids loved playing on it, shooting hoops on the basketball court, and the volleyball court inspired us to invest in a camping volleyball for next time :)

Parker’s Crossroads is located very conveniently off of I-40 and the park is gorgeous! They have some long term campers, storage, and an RV Repair Center on site. The shop inside has more parts then we have ever seen at an RV Park. While here we needed a switch for a water heater, they had it!
The campground had some narrow roads and some less than level sites but they were all doable. They have a nice pool area, spaces for dogs to be walked (on leash), pet waste disposal, cabins, and full hook ups.
The park was very quiet and clean, well kept. They have large mature trees, and great landscaping.
The cellular service for TMobile and AT&T we’re both decent and streaming video was possible each night.
GuideIt was ok. We chose a group site. It was difficult to stake our tent due to the massive root systems. Bathhouse was unclean and outdated. There was swimming, but beware of the snakes lurking in the wall you have to step down into the water from. The beach area is also a drive from the camp. Small fishing and peddle boats are offered for a rental fee.
GuideThey have re-done a lot of the RV full hook up sites to be very nice. Plenty of space and privacy. The area is a little hilly which makes it a challenge for a little kids on bikes but the playgrounds are really nice. The Wi-Fi is pretty spotty probably because of the hills. Cell service is barely one bar. So this is truly a disconnect and get away kind of place.
RangerMy wife grew up going to Chickasaw State Park as a child and when she wanted to go back with our family we couldn’t get inside because the state of Tennessee was totally redoing the campground. They closed it for one year. When it was reopened, we booked a trip with some friends to see what all had been done. This park was already an outstanding campground, but the addition of sewer in many of the sites and updated hiking trails, ADA access, and the newly updated bridge across the lake were breathtaking.
We stayed in the primary campground area and had access to sewer 30/50 amp and water. There is a horse camp with newly added 30A electric and newly paved pads. There are tent camp sites on the other side of the lake that are beautiful if that’s your thing. There are several hiking trails and a nature center with owls and a falcon. In warmer months, there is a marina with boat, canoe, kayak rentals and a swimming area that were all being updated. There is also a restaurant in the park, but i was closed for a complete renovation as well. The playground is new for parents interested. The dump station is easily accessible.
If you are looking for a beautiful spot in West TN with full hookups and plenty of activities for the family, Chickasaw State Park is outstanding. We will definitely be back!

When I first arrived at Pinson Mound it was a little before the park itself closed, to late for me to really go explore the site so I instead had to return the second day.
When I did I was able to see that there was a group camp available in the property which was quite a nice area indeed. Only those staying in this area are allowed to stay within the park after sunset and with limited number of groups welcomed at a time this makes for a very intimate one of a kind experience.
Despite traveling alone on this trip I wanted to inquire about the requirements for this site and was quickly told that it is by reservation only so you have to plan in advance to be allowed to stay on property. There are NO after hours arrivals accepted without reservation.
This is more of a day use facility for the most part for the average person. They do have nice picnic shelters, playgrounds and of course the archeological site itself.
For those which do attain permissions for group site camping there are several regulations regarding location of camp and activities of allowance. I can say that after being at the property it would be a little eerie to stay here at night because of the Native American history.
Group sites are very well equipped and are a flat rate of $200 per evening with reservation only. These are cabins which are arranged nicely in a landscaped area close to the big mound. Keys are issued to those staying for their site and early arrival is suggested.

We are somewhat local to this campground. We heard about it from a friend. We decided to give it a try.
Campground is clean and organized. The pads are made up of ground pavement. They are quite close together. Each site has its own 50/30/110 electric, water and sewer connections. This was a great surprise.
The bathrooms are a bit of a walk from the sites. They have a shower house by the water park area. The stalls are toilet/shower combo. Only problem is the only handicapped accessible shower is in this shower house and they don’t allow you to drive there unless you have a golf cart. And they do rent golf carts for $50 a day.
There is 2 more 24hr toilet/shower stalls in the lower half of the camp store. The camp store is open 8-8. The camp store has most of your daily needs such as ice and toiletries and firewood.
We were there for 3 days and my kids used the water park. They had a blast on the jumpers and got very wore out. The water park is a $20 charge a piece on the first day and goes down to $10 a day for the rest of your stay. Be advised you will be charged whether you are going in the water or not. If you are going down there you are being charged.
There is paddle boarding,kayaking, and a small John boat included with the park. There is also a very nice spacious pool that is included as well. The pool is 11ft deep so there’s no issues with using the diving board. Unfortunately we did not get to try the restaurant while we were there and will try on our next visit. There’s plenty of room to walk around and a fire tower to climb. You can see some great views up there. There’s also Yurts for rent and cabins. They all look well kept and up to date. The roads do narrow down a bit when first coming in so be prepared to watch your corners. All in all we will be back and recommend trying this new campground. Only reason for 4 stars is the bathrooms being so far and the sites being quite close together.

GuideWe usually use Pin Oak CG at Natchez Trace State Park when we are traveling through Tennessee. Many nice sites, and a few that aren't as nice. But well worth stopping and enjoying the lake and peacefulness. Our first time there was in 2014 and that is when I took the photos.
GuideThis was our first experience with Tennessee State Parks and found this park really nice! We stayed in site 11 which was AAA and level at the top. Only negatives were a steep incline to back into site, no cell service and pay as you go park WiFi. Overall a nice clean park!

GuideDo not trust your GPS to get you here. Make sure you have plenty of gas before leaving any town. Study the direction map link on the web site. There are no signs until you get there. Be sure you're going to the right campground. CSP is big and GPS will take you to many places (wrong places) in the park, many trail but useable roads. Once here, enjoy the tranquility and very friendly, helpful people of the area. T Maybe and Verizon work fine. Didn't try the camp wifi. Did not use the bath house. In general, Tennessee State parks do a very good job. Site was not level but paved. Not crowded at all. Large spaceous sites.

The amenities offered are exceptional, with all the necessary hookups available for both RV and tent camping. I particularly loved the market, which offered a wide variety of supplies to make my stay comfortable. The staff used to be pleasant and accommodating, making my trip all the greater enjoyable. If you are planning a day out to the area, I pretty endorse you visit this gorgeous campground. You may not be disappointed!
LegendAfter picking up a brochure in Memphis I made it a point to come to this campground because it looked so inviting with a quaint lake with swimming beach and tent sites nestled right into the woods along the waters.
I drove about an hour and a half to the site passing though a few small towns along the way, but nothing major in way of traffic. It was a pleasant drive with great views of the lands of Tennessee.
When I arrived at around 4:45 the office was already closed which made for a little confusion with getting my site. There was a sign posted about after hours arrivals and to report to the stables where there was a small store. I went there and no one was there either and it then had an additional sign to go to the swimming beach for the concessions area there. Again, no one was there! I found this a little unsettling that even when I was given a basic instruction there was no follow through on the part of the park staff to be in those areas, but I did chalk it up to it being a weekday and perhaps things were run a bit differently.
I followed signs to the tent camping area to see if there were sites available and indeed found there to be no one at the site so I had the entire side of camp to make my selection. The sites were two levels with the upper level being a pull out for your car and the lower being the area with a tent pad and picnic table.
I selected a water facing site without any additional amenities and began to settle in. The bathroom was just up the hill about 50 feet so I checked it out to get a feel of the amenities and was very pleased to find showers and flush toilets. Though I did think it to be a bit strange that despite being the only one at the camp on this side there were wet footprints and it was humid as though someone had just taken a shower.
I went on to set up my tent and after locking up my car took a brief walk across one of the two walking bridges which span the lake. I had taken my Midland radio I am testing on this trip with me and began to scan the channels as I walked because of some pretty crazy clouds that looked like they were coming in. Sure enough a siren blasted through and warned a tornado just south by a ways.
A little rattled I quickly returned to camp, only to find that the wet footprints which I had discovered had an owner who was more than a little sketchy. A car parked just beside the restroom with a man and a woman seemed to be facing my tent watching it. When I came closer to my car, the man exited and started speaking to me. Something didn’t seem right about this person and knowing that the storm was coming, I quickly started disassembling my camp while he continued speaking and began to ask very odd questions like “was I camping alone”.
I don’t know if this is exactly what people want to hear when they read a campground review, but this is the reality of what happens sometimes. I have never been so thankful for a storm because after hearing the man speak and talk about how he “checks up on campers” because he is a local and seeing him try to look into my car while speaking to me without seeming obvious I would have NEVER stayed at this campground. The storm just gave me a good excuse to leave quickly, and because of that I was thankful.
The campground itself was really nice and if I was with a party of people I would give it another shot, maybe even perhaps when it was a busy weekend with other people. But under no circumstances would I return here alone.

ScoutMy family and I stayed at Parkers Crossroads overnight, just passing through until we got to our final destination. I was pleasantly surprised. The owners are new and were just on the job for their second day when we arrived. They were very hospitable! We arrived there later than expected. I called them, and they came to the office to escort us to our spot. The gentleman there even helped my husband get the electricity and water set up while his wife went over all the paperwork with me. The next day, we were really able to see the grounds. The property is beautiful! They have a pool , which h was closed for the season, and we loved the pond area. The only reason why it is not a 5 star is because 1) we didn't check out the restroom facilities, and 2) we wished they had a nicer playground area for the kids. I will say that the paperwork they shared with us shows plans to incorporate a new playground. So maybe there will be a nicer one when we come back. Best wishes to the new owners!

We saw the owners on the campground several times a day. Very friendly and welcoming! The pad site was concrete and level with full hook-ups. The park was very quiet and beautiful. We will stay here again in the future!!
