    Watkins Glen / Corning KOA

    A bit of a letdown

Our second KOA experience. We rented a deluxe cabin which was clean and spacious; give 4-4.5/5 for the cabin. Our site on the end and looking at the other sites around - great sites! Again would give a 4-4.5/5 there as well. The let downs - the lack of maintained grounds other than the sites and the extracurricular activities were a huge let down! Half of the advertised activities were closed including bumper boats and the rock wall. The indoor pool had truncated hours and the hot tub was sporadically open. Thank God for the water slide pool and golf cart to entertain the kids. The kiss did enjoy the Gaga ball pit, community events and play ground. We didn’t get to mini golf. Amenities could have been cleaner but still decent. If everything were available then 4/5 would be appropriate. Staff were great though! 5/5 for that.

Great Camp to make as base camp for adventures in the area

Watkins Glen/ Corning KOA this is a nice KOA in the Watkins Glen area. Our site was a full hookup site. Campground offered clean sites with gravel drives and grass areas between them. Offers your typical KOA amenities with a huge outdoor pool, indoor pool and hot tub, water slide, rock wall structure, zip line and mini golf which were part of our site fee price.

Things to do in the area Watkins Glen State park(hiking, biking and scenic views of the falls and gorge), Seneca Lake(one of the finger lakes), Watkins Glen International Speedway, Corning Glass Museum(Corning, NY), Montour Falls(Montour Falls, NY), Sunset View Creamery(Farm Tour and Store).

    This place is absolutely amazing!!!!

We arrived on Sunday afternoon, and knew that we were going to have a great time. This little trip was the last little getaway before our son left for college, so we were hoping for the best. Well, it has been awesome. Our daughter said that she felt as if we were at a cabin, not so much a campground.  The staff is super friendly and helpful. Our campsite is AMAZING! Everything is clean, neat and organized. The fishing is good, and the turtles are eager to help themselves to your bait. It truly is a great place to stay. Great job and great place Pine Cradle Campground!

Small but all you need in one stop!

Our family loved the modern cabins which are available in my of Pennsylvania's state parks. I'd rank any other park that we visit with a five star rating. The staff at other parks will let my family check in before 3:00pm if the cabin is ready. The swim area is one of the best around. Playgrounds are fun& the snack stand is a little expensive, but delicious!I think we picked the week with the most rain of the year to camp but it was still a lot of fun. The hike around the lake is not that long and a pretty easy walk. We did it with a 5 year old and he had no complaints. The nature talks were really fun for the kids and interesting for the adults.

    Worlds End State Park Campground

    Christmas tradition

Worlds End is one of my favorite parks. I love staying in a cabin for Christmas. Park is very clean, nice bathrooms. Lots of trees for privacy and great trails. If you have never been this one should definitely be on your list. Almost all the cabins are right next to the stream. Falling asleep to that sound is great. You get a wood stove and a fire ring. Some cabins even have a fire place!!!!

    Great Cabin experience

We spent 5 nights at this campground at the end of June 2020. The modern cabins are available for a week at a time in the summer. We paid for the week but knew we could only stay for 5 nights. We were impressed with the 2 bedroom cabin. The kitchen had the usual plus a microwave, toaster and coffee pot. The furniture was comfortable for a cabin and the porch was delightful to sit on during a rainy morning. There are multiple trails around the park that are well maintained. The beach area is small but nice and the concession stand was open every day but Monday. We weren’t impressed with the camping area. There was very little shade in most campsites so we were glad we had a cabin. Overall we had a fantastic time at the park and exploring the area.

    Clean, private, swimming!

Stayed here multiple times. Cabin is clean, large firepit, huge patio, great swimming pond with a slide. Cabin included many kitchen items as well as there being a full size freezer/fridge, tables and chairs on the patio. Pet Friendly but no fenced area.

    Worlds End State Park Campground

    Four Seasons of Fun

We had the pleasure of renting a cabin at World's End State Park for the first time in February 2016 after being convinced by friends to check it out. We were immediately in love with the babbling river that ran right beside our cabin. On cold days and nights we could stay warm under our roof covered front porch fireplace and still enjoy being outside. There is no better place to curl up with a book and some coffee on a cold, winter morning. The cabins stay very warm with a wood burning stove- sometimes even too warm and windows need to stay cracked open. We purchased wood from a local gentleman who delivered. A list of these services are available inside the check-in area, which also serves as a cool local mini-museum of sorts. There are several amazing lookout spots in the area that you can access via car. The cabins generally sleep 6-8 very comfortably with 4 double bunk beds in most. The cabins also have electricity and include a stove and refrigerator. There is no plumbing, so no sink or toilet but there are several very well maintained and equipped bathroom houses throughout the cabins area. The bathrooms are private and have showers and dishwashing stations. If you are looking for comfort, bring your own good camp chair. The cabins are only equipped with wooden chairs and a wooden bench seat. As soon as we left the park and were able to access cell phones again, I booked another cabin for myself and kids for their Spring Break in April 2016. This may become a tradition as we had a fantastic time hiking the area in the Spring. Butternut trail is right in the campground and is a perfect two-hour hike for kids who don't mind a good hike. There are some tricky spots, but it's manageable and well worth it when you reach the lookout at the top. The folks at the welcome center are knowledgeable and can point you in the direction of some great local trails. Forksville General Store is also nearby and there you can get cell service and a nice meal. The owners were regionally from Philadelphia and according to my son, make a fantastic cheesesteak. We are excited to visit World's End again this spring and winter. We have not visited in the summer but hear that it gets more crowded. We have friends that recently stayed there in a tent campsite and had a great visit.

Perhaps the reason colors the review.

The cabin was excellent with all amenities. Trees on our plot perfect for a hammock. You could get on the trail easily and hike the lake the tempted you from the cabin as the sun glistened off the water. During the hike you would pass a red pine plantation, a reminder of the Civilian Conservation Corps. I want to go back there every year. Not just because it is so close to the PA Grand Canyon/Pine Creek Gorge but because this was our honeymoon. Covid-19 forced a change I am so thankful for.

    Away from it all

the Park Manager held a 12 hour mountain bike race from the park. The first year we camped in tents and the second year of the race we had the one and only cabin in the park. It was beautiful.

Our first night we had a couple hundred pound bear climb the tree outside of the cabin. Park personnel came around and monitored the bear until it came down and left. It was spectacular!!!

If you like small quiet get always with the thrill of seeing wildlife then this is the place for you!

    Sullivan County treasure

This is a great park. I have been coming here for many years.

Cabins are rustic and don’t have running water but they are clean and roomy. I think Cabin 8 is my favorite, it has a little loft and easy access to the creek.

Park Staff is very nice, they don’t have a problem if you call every few days asking how much snow they have...

There is a natural whirlpool with beach access and a small snack bar. The canyon vista trail is a great ski, High rock trail is my favorite trail. Great place to watch the sunrise!

    Don't rent Cabin 1

Looks cute from the outside but once you get in you are immediately disappointed. The cabin had a smell, a wrinkly floor, and was very dark. There is a lack of any shelf or cabinets and only minimal hooks to put your things. Even the TV was on the dining table and you can't use the remote from the bed either. We used the table benches and top of fireplace to place our stuff. We also had no AC. The signs on the wall said make sure you turn off the AC, but no AC. Our friends stayed in cabin 6 and it was so cute, bright, and had AC. Our other friend stayed in 2 and it was much better than ours as well. 3 was better too.

In addition they would not honor a AAA discount due to already paying, what?!

    Watkins Glen State Park Campground

Favorite park in all of New York!

Watkins Glen is like nothing else I've seen anywhere in the country. The geology of the area creates layered rock formations through which canyons form. They are very grey and green with lovely cascading waterfalls and rivers. Such gorges can be found all over the Finger Lakes area of Western NY, but Watkins Glen is the gem of the whole area. More waterfalls than you can count! Most trails are fairly well-developed with stone paths and stone stairs but can be very steep.

Only swim/wade and hike where permitted!!! Children and drunk adults seem to drown every summer by swimming in deceptively calm areas that lead to extremely deep and/or swift water. There are also very steep drop-offs if you leave the trail. This is not a dangerous site as long as you follow the rules.

Tons of trails, lots of swimming options, many many other state parks in the area. Camp here for quite a few days and then explore the whole area, including "hippie" college town Ithaca. Exceptionally high quality State Park facilities, including all the usual amenities, plus more like canoe/boat rentals. All kinds of camping options, from tents to cabins. Make sure you reserve in advance! We've camped at lots of different sites over the years and each has been great. Accessible sites are excellent.

    Seasonal Camper

I camp here quite often with one of my friends and we really enjoy the atmosphere here. There are not many opportunities to explore nature at this campground which is why it is a 4 stars for me. But facilities such as cabins, bathrooms, and the office are great!

    Great

Campground was nice! Our cabin was barebones but it was clean had a tv, small refrigerator a bunk bed and full. Plenty of room for two people! Has a lot of kid friendly activities. Really close to Seneca lake which is a plus for sight seeing and of course wine tasting 💕

    Great for hiking

I stay here usually once or twice a year and spend my weekends hiking the various gorge trails nearby. Tent camping is nice here. The sites are good sized, they offer cabins as well. The bathhouses are clean and well lit at night. This is definitely a large family area. Expect to hear your neighbors once and a while.

    Pettecote Junction Campground

    Soul Cleansing

Petticoat Junction campground is nestled in the PA Grand Canyon with Pine Creek on one side and the Rails to Trails on the other of the campground. This ideal location provides a nice tranquil environment with opportunities for active adventures. It had been several years since our last stay at PJC, but the new owners have done amazing improvements and upgrades to many areas of the campground which are greatly appreciated. Everyone we interacted with(owners/employees) were friendly and gave us the feeling that they were glad we chose to stay with them.

There are a variety of camping options from season sites, primitive sites, cabins, glamping tents, and RV hook-ups for water and electric(along the creek). We stated in one of the water/electric hook-up sites along the creek, which was wonderful. Very flat and larger than average in size, which was nice not being on top of your neighbor. Water pressure was very good and the WIFI signal was better than many campgrounds we have stayed.

The location of PJC is perfect for fishing, floating/kayaking, and biking/hiking the rails to trail. There are many nearby hikes throughout the canyon for the more adventures travelers. The office has biking/tubing/boating rentals for its campers. Additionally the firewood for sale is priced well and is very good quality, not the cheap smoky pine found in most places. If you need a break from civilization to reset and relax, I highly recommend PJC!

    A great campground!

The campground is run by a family who is super nice. The cabins and the bathhouses were extremely clean. I stayed on a full hookup site that had water/electric/ sewer. The sites have Picnic tables and fire rings that are cleaned out.

The campground was really close to Cherry Springs, where we could go stargazing! It is also close to Lyman Lake where we could go swimming and kayaking and fishing.

I had an amazing time here and I already have other reservations because it was great for big families!

There is also a huge ATV trail right across the road that my neighbors rode at all day!

    Very Nice RV Park

Very clean and we'll managed campground. Sites are a little close in some areas, but are nice. WSE at leach sure. There are cute cabins and a tent area. Great restaurant on site with music on weekends with local bands or DJs. New Owners have worked hard to improve the park. There are no permanent sites, but they do have seasonal sites. Everything from pop ups to big rigs can be seen. Nice clean pool and rest rooms. Clean well equipped laundry. Park is close to hiking, kayaking, canoeing, and larger and small towns. Huge playground ajoins the Park. Staff is friendly and helpful.

    Watkins Glen, NY KOA

This was a HUGE KOA campground!  There was a lot to do, but we only stayed 1 night & got back on the road.  We stayed in a small cabin (w/ bathroom).  The weather was great, so we had a great view of the forest around us & the sky was amazing!

KOA does a great job of keeping everything organised & clean.

It was nice & quiet.  Unfortunately, 1 of my cats was startled by a neighbour’s dog & ran up a tree.  My friend, being a military vet, knew how to get up the tree without getting hurt & bring my mischievous ball of fur, Loki, safely back to the ground.

It is a great place to stay!

    Happy Acres Resort

Nestled in the mountains of PA

Stayed for 5 nights with a partial hook up for our brand new 32 foot travel trailer. Other reviewers had mentioned that sites were small, so we specifically asked for a larger site. We ended up getting a corner site right on the edge of a hill looking down on the main office and playground. It was perfect. Playground was huge with multiple playsets suitable for all ages. Bathrooms/showers we're clean and well kept. There was a basketball court, shuffleboard and carpet pool that you could borrow equipment for. Our son and his family rented a wolf den cabin and it was very clean as well. Internet access was spotty, as expected but WiFi at the main office was good. We enjoyed the small, but very clean pool. Would definitely go back. Pet friendly, but there isn't a dog park/off leash area. Staff were friendly and helpful. Right across the street from little pine state park.

    Newtown Battlefield State Park Campground

History, lite hiking, great camp sites

Great site. Pretty self serve, rangers drive through often but never seems to be anyone at the check-in. You can reserve a site or a cabin, or you can show up after three and see what is open. Communication isn't great. Our site which was reserved was not on the board. The reservation system showed us and two others before Friday, at eight thru ten cars came in looking for sites. If I had been late getting in an my site was taken I'd have had to call a ranger to evict. Again, they are driving around doing chores, but no one was there at the office. Trails are well signed at intersections, and they are well worn, but mostly without blazes. Camp sites are tidy and we'll mowed, a trash can at each site, nice combo grill/fire ring. Got a black leg tick, so heed the signage and check for them. Bathroom/showers were well cared for.

    Worlds End State Park Campground

    Great campground

I've been coming here every year for a while now. Overall, it has everything you'd want in a campground. They have one of the cleanest bathrooms I've seen yet while camping. The campsites are a good size. Certain sites have more privacy than others, I'd recommend the higher loop if you can. However, some of the sites on the lower loop are close to the road but the road noise isn't too bad. They have designated sites for pets. There are also primitive free sites that are first come first serve. In the colder months, they even have cabins you can rent out. Plenty of hiking and swimming nearby. We always hit up the Forksville General Store for breakfast before we leave. The food is sooo good. I recommend getting the sausage links. Also, the stars are incredible here! I usually come in the fall in October/early November. It's my favorite time to come because it's not extremely packed with campers and the leaves are beautiful. If you come in the fall, make sure you bring a cold weather sleeping bag or heater because the temp does drop. Seriously, a great campground you wont be disappointed!
