Trask River

Super big spots off side of forest roads. Nice and quiet back there other that locals and loggers through the night. Lots of trash too.

Plenty Of Spaces

This spot isn't accurately marked, but the road is correct. I saw a total of 3 designated dispersed camping sites along this road. But there were a ton of pull offs along the river. I stopped just past site 3 and found a clearing so my Starlink would have a clear sight to the sky as it is a heavily wooded area. The road is in great condition and is passable with a 2WD without any issue. There is a sign saying there are logging trucks using the road, but I never saw one or heard any forestry equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is dispersed camping allowed along the Trask River?

Yes, dispersed camping is allowed along the Trask River. There are three officially designated dispersed camping sites along the North Fork Trask River road, plus numerous unofficial pull-offs where campers can set up along the river. These areas provide more primitive camping experiences without developed facilities. Be prepared for self-sufficient camping and follow Leave No Trace principles when using these areas. For the most current regulations, check with the local Forest Service office before your trip.

How does North Fork Campground compare to other campgrounds in the area like West Winds?

North Fork Campground offers a more rustic, dispersed camping experience compared to West Winds and other developed campgrounds in the area. While West Winds likely provides more amenities and established facilities, North Fork features a natural setting with sites scattered along the river. North Fork caters to those seeking a more primitive experience with fewer crowds and more privacy between camping spots. The area has heavy tree coverage, which may affect satellite service but provides excellent shade and a true forest camping atmosphere. Consider North Fork if you prefer a more off-the-grid experience versus the potentially more structured environment at West Winds.

Where is North Fork Trask River designated campsite 2 located?

North Fork Trask River designated campsite 2 is located along the North Fork Trask River road. While the specific site isn't accurately marked on many maps, it's one of three designated dispersed camping sites that can be found along this road. Site 2 is situated between sites 1 and 3, with all sites positioned near the river. The area features multiple pull-offs along the waterway, making it relatively easy to locate the designated sites as you drive along the road.
