Hiking trails draw visitors up toward Mt Hebo, where dispersed sites open up when Hebo Lake Campground is closed and campers drive farther up the road to find available ground. The site is free and managed by the US Forest Service, with rangers known to pass through periodically. Trash left by previous visitors has been a noted issue, so campers who pack out thoroughly will find this a workable base for day hikes in camping near Siuslaw National Forest.
