Scenic Overlook Dispersed Camp near Foley Creek

I had to stop 2/3 of the way up the narrow, steep, exposed and twisty road. To check my nerves and let the engine cool. The Chevy Silverado is towing a 19-foot (single axle) airstream and needed a break. Fortunately a group of OHV riders came by and gave me courage: “If you’ve made it this far, you’re fine.” I did scout in the end and found a perfect spot to spend the week. I didn’t see numbers. This area is remote, no numbers needed. Just find the spot that appeals! You can’t go wrong.

I took Foss Road to Cook Creek Road and then turned up Anderson Ridge Road. 

Side note: the Anderson Ridge area that is referred to as an alternate takes just as much gumption to get to, so may as well go all the way.

Took coordinates as far as I could before ruts were too bad. Road was really well groomed until then and many spots to choose from. Saw 2 cars in 2 days. Loved hiking around and enjoying not seeing any light pollution. Definitely hitting this area again and will try other spots. Google maps does well and had minimal cell service but still could text.

Have to use Cook Creek like the comment below says. Pin doesn’t work well. It’s just past a river around a bend when heading east on the south side. You’ll see signs off the pavement for Cook Creek campground. Keep on driving up staying on the main road. It takes a bit before seeing camp sites, but eventually they are numbered. 17 I believe are numbered along the way. Stayed at number 5 and it was great!
