Butler Bar Campground

Butler Bar Campground sits along the Elk River within Siskiyou National Forest, accessible by forest roads that lead off the main highway. This US Forest Service site features seven drive-in campsites with vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings, though no other services are available. The campground operates on a first-come basis with no fees required.

Campers position their tents and RVs directly beside the river, where swimming holes provide relief during warmer months. Recent visitors report having the entire campground to themselves during September stays. Cell service does not reach this location. The sound of flowing water accompanies overnight stays, and the short access road allows campers to set up almost under the nearby bridge for those seeking campsites near Siskiyou National Forest.

Nice campground

Off the highway quite a ways but nice campground. We stayed one night here in early September. About 7 sites so smaller campground and not real private but we had the whole place to our selves. Right on the Elk River which has some great swimming holes. There is a vault toilet at the campground but no other services. No cell service but no fees for camping. Overall a nice spot right on the river. Nice to hear the water running while camping. Definitely stay in this area again.
