Sunshine Bar Campground

Awesome little campground in the thick of the forest that backs up to the Elk River. The drive there is a narrow, winding road along the Elk River, lush green ferns and trees, and over a dozen small waterfalls. The small campground is free to campers and managed by the United States Forest Service. Each campsite has a picnic table and a fire ring. There are vault toilets. The campsites are accessible by vehicle, making it perfect for truck camping or tent camping. There is no cell phone reception or nearby services.

I spent two days out here July of 2020 cycling the Wild Rivers Coast Scenic Bikeway with a dear friend. She and I hadn’t seen each other in years and practically frolicked around this beautiful campground. We met two of our camp neighbors, Patrick and Doug, who were also just out on the road and escaping the daily stresses of the world. Our trip was memorable and our quick friendship connection was special, to say the least. The campsite was clean and even had some salamanders and hooting owls at night. Owls, or two punk rock girls dancing around the fire, who knows what you might see! - Jen and Emily ♥️

This campground is super green and pretty. It’s a ways up the river but close to the road. It seemed very secluded even tho it was close to a road. Plenty of spots with picnic tables and a beautiful view of the river. Pit toilets were available. No hookups for rv or trailers. Perfect for tent or truck camping
