Beautiful views, small sites

The early spots were occupied so I initially picked a spot under the electric wires, but as soon as a I turned my car off all I could hear was the buzz of the current. I walked around exploring a bit higher and found an unoccupied spot with a great view. The spot itself is pretty small, which was fine for my tent but I imagine a van would have a tougher time setting up. Verizon had almost full 5G up here, I took a video call using my phone as a hotspot

Did not want to stay the night

This place very secluded from other people, but right out in the open, on top of a hill. The camp spot is pretty small with enough room for probably 3 cars with their tents. However, i would not recommend staying here in a tent. It was so windy that our tent was caving in on us and it was hard to enjoy the spot. The sunset was very pretty and This place has a great view, however, once it gets dark, it was so spooky. Just because the wind was so loud and made it sound like someone was walking around our tent, and it just had some weird energy. My intuition told me to leave and so my friend and I packed up our stuff very quickly in the dark and ended up staying in a hotel for the night. I have stayed it places without another soul in sight many times and I have never felt so scared for my life. We genuinely felt like someone was watching us or like something bad was going to happen. Maybe it was just the day we were there, but I will not be going back. If you want some solitude and plan on sleeping in a camper or your car, this might not be a bad place, but there is also nothing to do.

Secluded and windy

I stayed at the site just up the road atop the hill which made for a windy night but it was nice and quiet. I didn’t see a soul other than the few cars that meandered down the dirt road below me.

Great views, and secluded

Narrow road but I made it up in my 02 Sierra with a 13ft travel trailer. Amazing views and no one around for miles

Easy steep dry gravel road with huge drop offs

The road is steep gravel with many switchbacks that were easy to do in our 24ft van coming from the Humbug State Park entrance. About 12 minute slow drive to a very scenic turnout on the hilltop where the area looks to be immediately cleared of trees and large enough to turn around. Likely park 4-5 vehicles if you didn't mind squeezing together. A slight uneven slope but manageable if you don't have leveling blocks.

You can see the ocean behind the adjacent hill tops. And all the other areas are forested that you look out to other than the drive in.

Coming here was a bit nerve racking with the end of the trail having the trees cleared out for a few miles and just a steep drop-off to your left. Wouldn't come up if it rained as I would feel unsafe for some of the road edges look to be a potential risk for washing out.

Beautiful View, Secluded

Drive up China mountain road winding back and forth. We stopped at a spot that wasn’t marked but about a mile and half short of this marked spot. It had the best views. We decided to continue to the marked spot and was also gorgeous but not as good I would recommend the first one.

Quiet with a great view

Getting here was pretty easy. The road winds up the mountain, a bit nerve wracking on the narrow parts but overall quite an easy drive up. A couple bumps here and there but not bad. No issues for the Promaster. Great views from a couple of spots, super quiet.
