Lake Simtustus RV Park

Lake Simtustus RV Park sits along the shores of Lake Simtustus, about five miles off the main highway near Madras. The campground operates year-round as a private facility, with sites organized into lettered sections that cascade down a hillside toward the water. Staff provides complimentary golf cart service to help campers navigate the 200-foot elevation drop between the office and lakeside sites.

The park divides into distinct camping areas, each with different characteristics. A-section sites sit directly on the water but pack closely together, while D-section offers more shade and privacy higher up the hill. C and B groups occupy middle elevations with open views across the lake. Josh H. notes that "C is the only flat paved road" for those bringing bicycles, as other sections feature gravel surfaces and steep grades.

Full hookup sites accommodate RVs with electric, water, and sewer connections. The facility includes clean restrooms with showers, reliable WiFi throughout the property, and a boat launch with rental options for pontoons and kayaks. Fishing access extends from a small dock and shoreline areas near the campground. Several campers mention the tight backing requirements for lakeside sites, though the waterfront proximity compensates for the maneuvering challenge.

The park maintains level lots and operates with reservation availability. Pelton Park Campground provides another camping option less than a mile north for those seeking alternatives in the Lake Simtustus area.

Lovely RV Resort

I’ve stayed here three times. The site I stayed in the first two times is no longer available for RV’s. I stayed in D2 this time and had plenty of room and privacy. I will say that if the hookup was on the other side of the site I’d have had a much better view. The ‘A’ sites at the lake side are very close together. The staff are all friendly and very helpful. Good WiFi and quiet at night.

Best campground on 10,000 mi trip

About 5 miles off main highway, on the edge of Lake Simtustus, they have boat sliis, pontoon boats and kayaks to rent. Nicely spaced camp sites, and clean restrooms. 200 foot drop from office to lakeside, but the provide golf carts at no extra charge to go up and down the hill!

Friendly

Campground is clean and very well ran. The lower level next to the lake is tight to back into but once your backed in it is amazing. Fishing was great and employees were amazing.

Amazing RV park!

Extremely nice staff, well kept and spacious sites. Stunning views from most sites (C and B groups are the best views). D is best for shade and A is down on the water.

Don’t bring your bike unless you’re in C group, it’s the only flat paved road. The rest of them are gravel or damn near vertical 😂

Fishing looks like it would be amazing but we visited during the Covid lockdown. (They weren’t issuing tribal fishing licenses.
