Mt. Hood National Forest includes Herman Creek Campground, a US Forest Service site operating May through September on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge near places to camp around Cascade Locks. The forested setting keeps sites shaded. RVs are limited to 20 feet, and amenities run to the basics: pit toilets, picnic tables, campfire rings, and trash service. Dogs are welcome. Campers wanting a different setup can look at Herman Creek Horse Camp directly adjacent to the north.
Description
6/13/18: "Closed indefinitely due to root rot creating hazard trees. No parking in campground. A vegetation management plan is being developed to address future plans for the site." - NFS Call ahead / check NFS website for updates on campground status.
