Group Camp continues to go downhill while prices go up.

We have been at this group camp for 46 years straight (except for pandemic year).  Over the years we saw improvements. Since the pandemic not so much. 2 cabins are completely unusable. Each year we are promised they will be fixed. Just empty words. Now we are are told this year that the commercial refrigerator broke and they just put in a regular fridge with the promise that it will be replaced by our July 23 date. We are not hopeful.  The grocery store closed years ago. Then the water slide closed. Next the paddle boats and miniature golf closed. The state has done nothing to help the situation.

Stunning

A well maintained park lots of shaded sites, picnic tables are the best. Views of the mountain are great. Bathhouse and toilets are new in most sites.

Back in business! Great State Park!

This park was turned back over to the state in 2020 and is exactly how I remembered it from the 80’s. Tucked down in southwest Oklahoma in the Wichita Mountains, it’s a small park but has LOTS of options. There are RV and tent Campgrounds, cabins, a very modern lodge with 96 rooms, group pavilions, and a dormitory. There’s a full restaurant, ORV trails, hiking trails, a river and a lake. Something for everyone.

We stayed in the Mountain View campground which has concrete pads and didn’t have to level our rig at all. Electric and water and steps to the flush bathroom that has a shower in it. It backs up to the lake berm and has a view of one of the mountains. Not much cover but we didn’t need it as it was cloudy during our stay. LOTS of stickers. Beware especially if you have long haired dogs.
