    Red River Rose RV Resort

    Lovely but noisy

We stayed for an overnight with our 36’ trailer. It was easy to find and we chose the easiest spot to park. Our spot had a cement pad which was mostly level. The resort is well maintained and clean. Looks like a fun location with kids. Staff was polite and helpful.

Propane refill available on site (big plus).

Be ready for highway noise and the occasional train whistle.

    Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area

Beautiful Setting, but Military Ordinance can be noisy even inside a Cabin

Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area, Fort Sill, OK

Cabin 3 (both late June and mid-October)

Lake Elmer Thomas(LETRA) is a 334 acre lake located on Fort Sill in Comanche County, Oklahoma. LETRA offers a pretty nice location for recreating. Offering quite a bit for families in a limited space.                                                                                                            •A nice beach and cordoned swim area, complete with restrooms and shower house(11a-7p)…lifeguards                                                                                                          •Sand volleyball court                                                                                                             •Watersport rentals: paddle boards, canoes, kayaks, pontoon boat                                      •Mini golf course                                                                                                                         •Disc golf course                                                                                                                     •RV/Camper area                                                                                                                         •Rustic rental cabins                                                                                                                    •Random primitive tent camping                                                                                        •Fishing                                                                                                                                              •Nearby off-base hiking(Mount Scott and the Medicine Park Wildlife Refuge)              •Bicycling-ample quiet, paved road opportunities but surprisingly limited off road options

Tent Camping: there are no specifically designated loop or numbered site tent areas. Tenters are permitted to camp all along the lake’s edge in the grassy area. There are a few picnic tables and elevated charcoal grills(no ground fires permitted), so you may have to do without. There are also a few picnic tables under shelters, but half are in a state of disrepair and caution-taped off. Tenters cannot set up tents within the cabin rental inner circle.

The modern facility restrooms are across from the playground as you enter the cabin rental peninsula. Tent campers are able to utilize the shower house/restrooms in the RV/Camper section, as well as the beach areas during open hours. There is no ground cover to separate one tent from the next…all can be seen and heard.

RV/Camper Sites: big rigs are lined up side by side in a separate gravel loop immediately to the left of the entrance. Sites have water and electric hookups. The nicest shower house/restroom is located there. There is a small patch of grass between sites, picnic table and elevated charcoal grill. These sites are closest to the entrance, beach area, watersport rental and campground activities.

Cabin Rentals: log home rentals are on a small peninsula with great views of Mount Scott and Lake Elmer Thomas. At the time of this review, you must bring your own bedding linens/blankets, towels, etc. I would also recommend packing extra eating utensils, condiments and any other items that you would take camping. We rented Cabin 3, which the website says will sleep 4…inaccurate. One full size bed and a small futon will sleep two average-sized adults and one small child in marginal comfort. The table only provides two chairs, not four for two not four. I would subtract 1-2 persons on the cabins unless you count floor space. Cabin 3 was$80 nightly.

Painted turtles are in abundance around the lake, as are smallish ‘fist-sized’ tarantulas. Bicycling the Artillary Range perimeter roadways on base, coyote dash across in early morning hours. Note: you are on a military base, so there are a number of restrictions that you need to be aware of and abide by.

Additionally, the campground is positioned along the northern side of the Artillery range. Yes, you will see and hear C-Ram’s lighting up the sky randomly during the day and night hours, as well as other ordinance. I enjoyed the display and out-of-the-ordinary disruption. Think unanticipated fireworks.

    Wichita Falls RV Park

    Sunday-Wed stay

Full hook ups. Friendly staff. Roads were paved it a little run down. Crushed stone pads were flat and easy to stabilize. Also good for keeping the dirt out. Cement area with picnic table was at every site. Several long time guests on East edge the rest of the park was wide open. Had good space for dogs. Backed up to a river and had its own pond. Along the river there was no issue with road noise. No recycle collection or Propane on site. Was a nice quiet stay in Early March

    Lake Arrowhead State Park Campground

Very nice for a state park 9/20/20

Pros: easy access from state hwy. Restrooms were very clean. This park has made pull through sites for big rigs. The lake and fishing area are great. Very quite and no artificial lights, heat place to star gaze. Love the little circles the water/electricity sites are located. Large site next side acceptable distance away. Every site has a covered shelter.

Cons: some of the sites need added gravel or black top.

I will be coming back and staying, great state park.

    Best One Yet

    Lake Arrowhead State Park Campground

    Nice quiet park

Water Electric , dump station close by, all rv sites seem to have a picnic table with an awning. Lake is close by, but we could feel a breeze most nights. Slept with windows open, to the sound of a pump jack running, read up about it, very interesting. Bathroom is dated but clean and functional, it's a state park, that is all I want. Nearby is Wichita Falls, we walked to the Falls, decent sized western city with choices for food and shopping. We would stop again.

    Red River Rose RV Resort

    Best campground around

All I can say is WOW, from the scenery, beautiful flowers display, to catch and release fishing to the adorable baby ducks this park is BEAUTIFUL! My husband and I absolutely love it here. Before arrival I spoke with Echo about what we needed in order to accommodate our stay and she was able to answer all our questions, upon arrival we met the sweetest young woman Taylor in the front office, she gave us all the information we needed, some history of the park and suggested restaurants and things to do locally. Brandon who informed us he did repairs and would be more then willing to help us as we are new to the RVing. The next morning we was having a minor cable issue(user error silly me) a gentleman name Anthony came to our site and had as ready to go in no time as the storms were coming in I wanted to be weather aware, as the day went on we was amazed by how much Anthony and the other gentleman outside did( I think his brother; they look a lot alike) to keep the park beautiful as well as helping anyone who stopped them throughout the day! 10/10 recommend this park and will be sharing with all my friends and family. Although, I didn’t get to meet Debra the manager this time during our stay, her staff spoke highly of her I believe she is doing a great job with the staff she has on hand. I am completely blown away and amazed with how much hospitality and joy this park brought us, you don’t see it much anymore. This park has such a homey feeling, the staff all seem like family and make you feel like you are apart of them. Keep up the good work red river rose you have definitely earned our business for many more years to come.

    Wichita Falls RV Park

    Lovely Park!

We were here for 5 nights in August 2020. We were in back-in site 20, which was level, shaded and plenty wide and long enough for our 35’ MH and tow car. The pads are gravel with a paved pad for picnic table. There are a lot of pull through sites that are plenty long for big rigs and not tight together. They have FHU, great cable and very decent WiFi. Verizon cell service was 4G 4 bars. The fulltime and long-term folks are over in a different section. The park is on the Wichita River, has lots of ducks and geese that like the pond there and there are lots of kitschy things around the park. They have a pool, laundry and bathhouses- all clean. I did not meet any staff as they had contactless check-in– your paperwork is taped to the office door. There is plenty of shopping all around. We took a lovely hike through Lucy Park and saw the beautiful Wichita Falls. We would go back to this very nice park.

    Lake Arrowhead State Park Campground

    Pleasant surprise

The park is very clean, they have primitive, water + electric and just water campsites. Each site has a fire ring and a covered picnic table. The park is located just a few minutes from the freeway. You can fish, canoe, kayak or paddleboard but you need to bring your own. We enjoyed everything except the noise from the homes across the lake. This park is known for the prairie dog colonies which are fun to watch!
