Tips for Lake Murray camping: From the park office, head north and take the winding road to Tipp’s Point, Cedar Cove and Elephant Rock campgrounds. Known as the most popular campgrounds on the lake’s west side, these campgrounds boast all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. All three areas feature RV camping, as well as comfort stations with showers, picnic pavilions, boat ramps and playgrounds. If you’re not camping, you can still enjoy the swim beaches and direct lake access these areas offer for only $5 per car. Tent camping areas, plenty of room for big RVs, direct access to the wooded Buckhorn Trail and stunning lake views make these campgrounds a sure-fire hit.
Currently at the Blue there is no charge for camping, however campers must have an annual fishing or hunting license or a Blue River Passport in lieu of the license. Campsite availability is on a first come first serve basis; no reservations. The Blue offers primitive camping at it's best. The beautiful and rustic setting is a campers dream.
Area 1 Area 1 runs downstream from Hughes Crossing and is one mile long. There are 29 campsites in Area 1 along with four parking spots. At the end of Area 1 is a large camping site that can be used for group camping. There are two primitive rest room facilities in Area 1. Area 1 consists of five large falls with a number of smaller ripples, forks, and branches. During season trout can be seen rising quite often in some of the slower pools above the heads of the smaller falls.
Area 2 Area 2 is upstream from Hughes Crossing on the west side of the river. Including the parking area Area 2 offers 41 camping spots and the parking area is often used by RV owners. There is one primitive bath room facility at the north end of Area 2 and a bath room facility close to the parking area. There are seven larger falls within Area 2 and a number of ripples, pools, and eddies. From the north end of Area 2, anglers can take a trail that will lead to Desperado Springs and the south walk in trail of the south wildnerness Area.
Area 3 Area 3 is across Hughes Crossing and has 4 campsites. There is a primitive rest room facility nearby. Area 3 is a more remote camping site and access to the river is by walk in.

Areas 5 & 6 There are two campsites at Area 5. Area 5 is located across from the south end of Area 1. Campsites are located on a bluff overlooking a beautiful falls. No primitive rest room facilities.
Area 6 is one large group area which can easily accomodate 15 to 20 tents. A primitive rest room located at Area 6. Area 6 and the upstream area is known as the "mystic" place and enchanted woods of Blue River. The upstream water forks and splits several directions creating intimate waterways.

bathrooms was very clean and wasn’t all hot and mucky was nice and cool in there. Very clean and love that it’s dog friendly. I suggest anyone to come with your friends and family have a nice day cooking, kicking back and playing some games
Can’t beat this site for $29/night. The sites where we were at are a bit close together. It definitely would have been better to be further on the peninsula or at Cedar Cove or Elephant Rock But we were just happy there was a last-minute cancellation on their website allowing us to be here otherwise it was all booked up for the weekend (I just kept refreshing the booking page).
Bathrooms good. Access the water was close. Lake Murray is one of the more clear lakes in Oklahoma.
The golf course, which was beautiful & close, has super twilight hours (after 6pm) which made it very affordable $16pp w/cart.

Sites arent all packed together so you get a little privacy compared to some other places ive stayed. Fairly close to the boat ramp
Taught my two boys at 8 & 9 years old how to camp and fish there 31 years ago. Had many good times. Wish I could go back in time. 🥲 Did a lot of camping with the boys . Winter or fall was best. Large camp fire,many blankets. And a good tent. Still have my VCR tapes camping. . And the VCR player.😂😂 Would usually camp across the spill way 2nd area to the right. Also I'd recommend the last camping spot to the right at the very end you can walk down to the river and fish. Nice open area with trails to the river. Was always a Bass man but learned how to trout fish there. I would check when trout tournaments are going on. Gets very crowded. Wish I could go back in time. I've camped there when I was the only person camping. One of the things I didn't like was when camping trailers would come to camp . Sometimes you would hear their generators start up across the river but most of the time very nice and peaceful. I always camped across the river. Highly recommend this place for family and someone that just wants peace and quiet which is most of the time out there. Would recommend going during the week, weekends tend to get a little crowded summertime. swimming and fishing. Wildlife. Before entering the river I would stop at Scotty's bait shop which 30 years ago had great breakfast all the supplies you need and Scotty was a really really nice guy let me fish on his property when my boys were small because we weren't catching anything at the river hopefully he's been doing well. Just remember… take with you what you brought and a little extra that someone left. Keep it clean and nice for our future campers. The boys and I always brought shovel and toilet paper. At that time there was only one main brick bathroom. Usually too many hornets and wasp so we just dug a hole and buried it you know what I mean haha camping in the woods. All I can say is WOW, from the scenery, beautiful flowers display, to catch and release fishing to the adorable baby ducks this park is BEAUTIFUL! My husband and I absolutely love it here. Before arrival I spoke with Echo about what we needed in order to accommodate our stay and she was able to answer all our questions, upon arrival we met the sweetest young woman Taylor in the front office, she gave us all the information we needed, some history of the park and suggested restaurants and things to do locally. Brandon who informed us he did repairs and would be more then willing to help us as we are new to the RVing. The next morning we was having a minor cable issue(user error silly me) a gentleman name Anthony came to our site and had as ready to go in no time as the storms were coming in I wanted to be weather aware, as the day went on we was amazed by how much Anthony and the other gentleman outside did( I think his brother; they look a lot alike) to keep the park beautiful as well as helping anyone who stopped them throughout the day! 10/10 recommend this park and will be sharing with all my friends and family. Although, I didn’t get to meet Debra the manager this time during our stay, her staff spoke highly of her I believe she is doing a great job with the staff she has on hand. I am completely blown away and amazed with how much hospitality and joy this park brought us, you don’t see it much anymore. This park has such a homey feeling, the staff all seem like family and make you feel like you are apart of them. Keep up the good work red river rose you have definitely earned our business for many more years to come.
We stayed for an overnight with our 36’ trailer. It was easy to find and we chose the easiest spot to park. Our spot had a cement pad which was mostly level. The resort is well maintained and clean. Looks like a fun location with kids. Staff was polite and helpful.

We stayed in elephant rock 2 site 44, we had a great view of the lake, however we didn’t realize we would need 50 feet of hose just to hook up to the water, and there were glass bottles all in the swim area. Still had a great weekend and will stay here again!
I spent a very relaxing week at The Point Upper Campground at the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Because my reservation was for seven days, I didn't have a very good choice of sites, but mine was clean, level and had good utilities. The dump station was easily accessible. Only one complaint is that the wash out hose did not have a threaded hoses connection to attach to my tank flush on my trailer. No big deal, but it would have helped. The Park Service personnel kept the area clean and mowed and had a very good presence in the campground. I checked in on a Sunday and was pretty much alone except for one other site near me until Friday evening when the place filled up QUICK. I'm glad that I checked out the next morning because it was really busy with traffic, kids in the road having fun, and lots of background noise. The Main area of the Rec Area is right off of the main thoroughfare in Sulphur OK where there is a nature center, trails, waterfalls and great swimming holes on the creeks. The Bison herd was in the East pasture and was easily accessible from the Veterans Trail. The herd is small now, but they were expecting some "red dogs" and mamas in the next few days when I was there. Glad to have a new bison herd in Oklahoma.
The Point Campground is close (5 miles) to fuel, groceries, beer, ice and of course a Wal-Mart. I would recommend this campground. There are several others in CNRA too, and the whole experience is worth the cost of the campsite. Be sure to visit the Nature Center Area, it is located near the waterfalls and creeks. A good side trip, along with the Bison Herd nearby.
This is one of our favorite tent and trailer camping locations in Oklahoma. It is quiet with all the hookups you need plus restrooms and showers within in a close walk on Loop C where reservations are required. Great sunset views over the Lake of the Arbuckles, great hiking in the Chickasaw National Recreation Area, and close shopping in Sulphur.
Really enjoyed Buckhorn, but I like The Point better just because there’s less of it. We were on loop C by the water which was nice but really pretty busy spot to be. Facilities are super clean and a great spot for families. We had a tent and a trailer and PLENTY of room for more if we needed to.
We went in late March and although cool it was a beautiful time of year to visit. If you haven’t been to the Recreation area it’s a must in the spring. The campground was quiet, LOTS of privacy, and some great scenery.

Each site is thoroughly bounded with retaining walls, making them perfectly flat. Driveway lengths vary dramatically, so check the details! Shower house has two decent push button showers. Dumpsite is clean and accessible, water pressure is average, 20/30/50 plugs at each site. Superb for tent camping, walk-in sites are ideal. RV pads are asphalt. Reservations required. Generally a great campground.
I didn’t have many sites to choose from online and really lucked out! Overall the everything was well maintained, the campground host at the time was very friendly, and so was everyone else around. I was tent camping, but it seemed like at least 2/3 of the people had some kind of and RV so there are a lot of lights on all night, but nothing too obtrusive. Bathrooms were very clean and showers had hot water. There was also a nice beach for swimming.
Very much enjoyed out stay. My two pups loved the site and how close it was to the Chicksaw Recreation Area. We loved everything!

We stayed at the point for 3 nights. Very nice well kept camp sites for rv camping as well as tent camping. Clean bathrooms and showers. It is however not within walking distance of the trails and nature center. Which is a must see beautiful area with trails and natural springs and waterfalls ..
We stayed in Loop C, site 48. Had to book about a month in advance, and didn’t have but 3 spots to pick from. Camp site was clean, and although far from the C comfort station, it was a short walk to the D comfort station.
Site had a picnic table, fire pit and lantern hook, with a nice flat area for any tent camping. We were in a teardrop, so the 2 parking spots made it really easy to back the teardrop in and park next to it. Campsites are pretty close together, so you can definitely hear your neighbors, but the trees do provide lots of screening. Easy walk to the lakeshore for some shoreline fishing, and campground itself is a quick 10-minute drive from town and the main park area.
Definitely a beautiful area of Oklahoma, and an easy campground to stay at. Would recommend to anyone.
